Funny enough, I had an Alliance Traitor in my session just the other night. I was doing Reaper Emissary as a Solo Sloop and doing Sea Forts to get to Grade V. As I finished the 2nd fort and loaded up the loot, a Reaper Brig was coming up on me. I sailed away and got ready for a fight, boarded them as they chased me, and they said "Hey, we're friendly. Just want to Alliance!" I was skeptical about it, but I allowed it. Went with them to the third Fort and the suspicion about their intentions rose when they were Harpooning my loot off of the bowspirit on my ship. Right as I got to Grade V, they started shooting Firebombs and Cannons at my ship. I retaliated against them, shooting their ship a few times and sailing away, only to jump off onto the fort, hit their ship a few more times with the Fort cannons, and then finally finish them off with a keg. Got my loot back, and their Grade V Reaper Flag as well. They claimed that it was all a joke and I allowed them to stay Allianced with me. As I ended the session, they did admit that they were just going to rob me, so all was well. Overall, a good session and we both still profited.

I play on Xbox and kept it on Xbox only for years cause of someone telling me it’s not fair against pc players well after making a post one night a pc player wanted to join so I had to change my settings well I never turned it back mostly in case he wants to join but also partly because I’ve had more fun then before it was silence and constantly fighting people but now while I’ve run into a couple hackers I’ve still had so much more fun just sailing getting random people to come to my ship ask if I need help and sailing past a galleon while solo slooping only to be asked how I was doing and a fever dream like Adventure that just happened to get me to pirate legend I think it’s purely because everyone’s not just sitting in parties unable to hear others it’s great

I-I tried joining your server on Discord, but when I hopped on and started looking for a crew, I got assumed for RPing just making a ** sign. I told them I was new to the server and to looking for a crew in general, but someone asked what was wrong with me. I felt like I was gonna get witch hunted, my anxiety built up and I left the server. I-I was scared I was going to be a target, i-it still scares me I might be a target if I try to come back.

What I love about SoT is knowing that no action, no matter how treacherous, is personal. This has been an interesting theme I've found with my community experience, and I can say with all honesty that this is my kind of community and my kind of game. However I do acknowledge that some exchanges are, indeed, personal, especially with toxic players--haven't seen any in a long time, though!

PvP in adventure usually boils down to HG or Arena refugees with uncounted multiples worth of hours over a regular player dunking smaller boats and less experienced crews, burning maybe 2 or 3 hours of their time spent doing PvE all gone in less than 5 minutes of fighting by someone who usually doesn't even care about loot/gold and has no emissary up, ie they legit just roll around looking for people to stomp and never bother trying to make any gold. Most people have lives and can't be bothered to spend 30 mins plus time gathering supplies and then hour pluss getting loot all over again after spending 2+ hours the first time, just to maybe be sunk, again, by someone who refuses any attempt at negotiating. (inb4 "its a pirate game", pirates used intimidation and negotiating over raw murder whenever possible, sinking everyone on sight even if they have 0 loot to gain is very un pirate like if you actually knew anything about pirates.)... So yeah it's definitely personal most of the time when it comes to this game, a cheeky GG after ruining someone's evening doesn't mean shit. There's a huge disconnect between how the game is advertised and the chill social multi-player adventure vibe and the intensely toxic and competitive PVP playerbase.
