@@PitunghereTNOschizo100 they seemed to do decently well against the Italians. They held the Eastern Front after receiving needed German intervention. I’d say their strategic leadership was certainly lacking, operationally too. Tactically theres some famous KuK units that performed decently well all things considered. I like that you portrayed the Italians for the menace they were to the Austrians! Italy is often seen as a joke "haha 12 battles on the same river", but the reality was that the italians were almost (Strafexpedition, won by the italian defenders) always the ones attacking and putting a huge pressure on the Austrians! Fun fact; at first the Germans weren't interested in aiding the Austrians since they had enough problems to think about, but Von Hindenburg remembered the war in Crimea, and how it ended because the largest port city (Sevastopol) fell, and he knew that if the Italians took Trieste, the largest port city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Empire would have started to collapse. So he decided to help the Austrians, and it was a very wise move since the Italians were really about to take Trieste, the Austrians by that point were almost completely depleted of every kind of resources and couldn't defend against another offensive Edit; holy f*ck, SO many people butthurting about the fact that Italy wasn't the joke their lazy memes taught them 😂

@IhavpickleАй бұрын
The Austro-Hungarians, in my opinion, are so underrated. They were getting butfucked on so many fronts, yet weren't the first to collapse. I think against russia, they were pretty instrumental to German success, as they tanked a lot of Russian offensives(brusilov, for example). They also made a semi comback in 1917 as they adopted German tactics, got German equipment, and overall were led by Germany. Italy had the advantage of not fighting on multiple fronts, so they could direct like all of their resources to the Alpines and Izonzo, yet they still got fucked by the Austrians(to be fair they also got hammered). Italy would've done so much better if they tried different tactics, which, on a unit level, they did, but overall, the army suffered from a lack of innovation until when Luigi finally got relieved of command

His brother in law fought at Doberdò, and his brothers fought in russia and over the Carpathians. His brother fought in Przemyśl, together with Gyóni Géza, and died there. My other great grandfather fought in that war, but idk where, and he also survived the 2nd world war, even walked home from the Don-curve (close to stalingrad, where the hungarian army suffered its biggest tragedy in ww2)).✝️🕊

actually the russian front had the largest number of troops for most of the war, 78% in 1914, 80% in early 1915, 57.7% in late 1915, 59.2% in early 1916, 58.6% in late 1916, by 1917 it was 60.3%, dropping only after the russians left the war (but still 7 times more troops then were deployed in the balklands front at the time. Serbia/balklands never had more than 20% of the austro-hungarian army, dropping to less than 5% by early 1916 and remaining low for the rest of the war (mostly at around 2%) the Bulgarians did most of the fighting in the balklands for the central powers. FYI the italian front had initally ~20% of the army, increasing to 35.9% by early 1916, 38.9% by late 1916 and increased to 73.8% after the russians left the war. So the Serbian front was infact the second lowest front, only behind the western front which only ever had a handful of divisions, but by the end of the war there was an equal number of kuk divisions in the westernfront as the balklands front.
