Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Cheat Powers is a new 2024 Isekai!
Spring 2024 anime season has brought tons of new anime From Windbreaker to Kaju No. 8 to even the return of Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia. But the best new Isekai of 2024 is supposedly Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Cheat Powers and in this review / Reaction we see if Filo and Fenrys are enough to be better than the likes of Mushoku Tensei. This is mainly about episode 1,2,3 and not 4,5,6,7,8 and seeing as the manga was popular the Anime should be better!

Yeah, no, this definitely is NOT a harem isekai. I mean, in the strictest sense, yes, this is an isekai, but definitely not a harem one. The main character is as monogamous as is, and if there even are harem elements, it's spoiler territory, but it's not with the main character. It's basically the "Call an ambulance, but not for me" meme but with the harem trope.

Hey great video, just a quick correction, but Rudeus isn't terrible with swords.. he's actually quite good relative to MOST knights/adventurers having trained constantly with god tiered people just make him look quite trashy, the reason he looked so weak with his dad is because he was quite literally 5 years old fighting a mid 20's-early 30's S-ranked adventurer. And the reason he can't cut boulders and such in half is because he can't wear what's called "Touki" which is an energy that covers the whole body similar to mana. But if its skills alone, he'd be able to take on 95% of people that were to challenge him. But he's nothing in comparison to Ruijerd, Eris, Ghislane, Paul, and ESPECIALLY Orsted. But he can go toe to toe with people advanced rank with his demon eye and people saint ranked with his armor (not even mentioning the other set but still, you get the point). Just a small note.. not trying to be all "AKCHTUALLY YOU GOT THIS WRONG" Hope this helps!

A fundamental misunderstanding thinking that Isekai means fantasy adventure getting stronger, progressing and gaining status in a world. While the theme of Isekai is change, starting anew and being an outsider. Level 2's story was never about learning to use his new powers getting stronger over time. The story was this guy in his new life meeting new people and how they all interact with each other. It's literally in the title; Chillin' Not grinding in this death world so I don't die. Or I adventure so I don't starve. It's Chillin' Likely the difference in expectation between a young man and an older man. A young man needs to prove himself to earn a place and struggle in life. While an older man will accept the world as presented to them and try to fit in. His level 2 cheat powers doesn't change what he was planning to do with his new life. He didn't say now that I'm godlike I'm going to rule the world, and end suffering using my amazing skills and powers. He was just like oh, this will be handy.

me personally, i Love this goofy ass isekai ngl, though i wish the mc kept his cuter original look.. I like some of the character design and honestly, for an isekai with a lot of tropes, it actually stands out.

@@KairoNova0oh wait- DARN IT you’re the Chad from the other comment thread! Eminence in Shadow is probably the most honest parody of the Isekai trope (comparable to KonoSuba, different in execution). They also make it pretty clear that, if anyone wants to watch every average Isekai ever, they should just watch Eminence in Shadow and move on. So in that sense, I’d say Eminence in Shadow is the best stereotypical Isekai in the genre. Although personally I could never sympathize with Shadow/Cid, ‘cuz he just felt like one of those selfish heroes in Shield Hero but on steroids (if you’ve seen Shield Hero yk). Cid’s lack of remorse or interest in anyone around him just builds him as a shitty antihero that, however more distinct that is to the average Isekai idiot, is still as unlikeable as them. Although that could also be the writer’s intention. Anyways Eminence in Shadow isn’t a bad show, and I think it certainly has its pros. I just think it doesn’t deserve to be compared to the likes of Re:Zero or Mushoku Tensei, which are serious, intricate works that have really added something to the table.

@@KairoNova0Solo Leveling as a Story is definitely nothing revolutionary or astonishing; hell, Eminence in Shadow’s plot is more interesting than SL’s, so that’s most definitely not the appeal of the series. However, what brings up Solo Leveling is its animation/artwork (both the anime and manhwa score highest in that regard) which is probably the only aspect of SL that isn’t overrated. Otherwise, it’s not something new, and they don’t go that deep into complex themes or ideas, let alone developing their characters. I’m saying this as an anime-only that’s heard some comments from the readers, so if I got something wrong, or evaluated the series while missing out on some key content that’s past Season 1, that’s why.😊

Haven't actually watched the video yet (I will edit the comment later if watching sparks an amendment or further elaboration) but just so we're on the same page here... THIS IS NOT A HAREM. Flio is very faithful to Rys. Yes, other characters have a romantic interest in him but none of them ever act on it because Rys scares the shit out of them. One of the characters even just tries to have a relationship with him purely to use his influence to restore her fallen noble family's power but gives up on it before long. Of the four(?) characters that try or think about getting with him, Rys is the only one that isn't a one-and-done deal. Second point, the first novel for this series came out in 2016. This was a trash Isekai wrote in 2016. It is pretty poorly done though, in my opinion. The books get repetitive and a lot of important details just get glossed over. Don't know how the anime is going to handle to but in the books, the war that they're preparing for starts and end (well, hits a stalemate that forces both sides to withdraw and lick their wounds) on the same page. I'm pretty sure it was all summarized in a single paragraph even. This is definitely just a "feel good" series with some hints of action and very little in the way of plot. I only got partway into the third book before it started putting me to sleep. Maybe things change at some point further in.

I agree with you on everything aside from mushoku tensei being peak. That shit was pure garbage and too creepy to watch and I have read the whole fucking manga of that garbage. it's nowhere near being the peak of isekai when you got shows like Youjo Senki, overlord and drifters in the same genre.

@@KairoNova0 Honestly I kinda forgot about it in the moment, but i would put it behind Grimgar only because of the style. Tensura is fun and quirky and the story gets batshit insane later on, at which Point i would place it higher than Grimgar. But, Grimgar just has a certain quality to it (the awesome backgrounds for example, and the realistic approach to the whole Isekai situation), which just puts it on another level.

While it is true that most isekai are trashy like this one, I also think that some of them do handle really deep and complex themes, for example, the character development of re:zero is on par if not better than mushoku tensei, it may seem shallow at first but it's really not, alongside its themes and what it wants to convey, you should really give it a try if you haven't watched it, it's a bit slow at first, but it may very well be the best isekai out there for now
