@@thenamelessking375 its cultured humor, for someone who studied these topics so much is fun to see people who feel smart while failing the basics. Also the presence of a guy which looks smart just because he didn't forget third grade is a nice twist of perspectives. Putting everything togheter, you get a very high form of humor, i guess it's not for everyone to enjoy? But he didn't exagerated with difficult topics, so everyone could understand how terrible was the standing guy's idea. Ps you don't even loose Al's tipical plot twist: the smart guy explained everything so well and was very rational, until he gave a total whiplash of character and pointed the presence of two Australias (which is very fun to say, but given his basic map knowledge he could have explained it very easily)

Yeah, the actual reasonis it’s jet streams
@SarlicValafarАй бұрын
@@bahshas In the northern hemisphere, the prevailing jet stream moves West to East, so flights heading that direction fly in the jet stream, which tends to be a slightly less optimal path in terms of distance, but allows them to save both time and fuel by having a significant tailwind. Flights from East to West fly the more optimal flight path to minimize the distance traveled and avoid flying into a strong headwind.

Actually the entire point of that projection on that map is so that straight lines are straight on a globe too. It was used for maritime navigation. The reason the flights are not a straight line is that planes take a shorter path over the curvature of the Earth. If they followed a straight line on the map it would be straight, but a longer line overall.

they do that because of the north atlantic track's jetstream, not because it's the shortest or because of the curvature of the earth. the jet stream's winds save fuel and reduce flight time, making these routes common for transatlantic flights.
