The Acolyte Episode 8 Finale - It's Finally Over

The Acolyte Episode 8 Season finale was the most convoluted, poorly written, lore breaking heap of bantha poo doo I've ever seen. Shoehorning Plagueis in the show for 4 seconds to add shock value and just use him like a form of click bait into this show written by people who, in my opinion, do not understand Star Wars, is the biggest slap in the face.
I really do not like this show and what it does to Star Wars.
I am glad it is over and everyone got paid. May they all continue on successfully AWAY from Star Wars with their careers.

At other times, it's a pang of caring showing up, the ghostly remnants of passion for something you might have once loved, before the weary cynicism pushes it down again. Or maybe it's like being at a stately procession or a funeral. Many people felt like this when the prequels first came out. Osha, who is at the back of the group, breaks off and somehow gets to Torbin before everybody else - which makes her look suspicious. But then Yord comes out and reveals he followed her and saw everything. So what was the point of the tension build up? What was the point of any of that nonsense? It doesn't make sense on any level. What really annoys me is the inconsistency in their force abilities. One minute Sol is an unstoppable beast but then the next second he can’t sense the basic things. Edit: I totally understand the human aspect of frustration and clouded judgments however I will highlight the specific example of the Tracker. That's always been the case in star wars. One minute palps is the strongest force star wars has ever seen then he is picked up by Vader's hands and thrown over a ledge to his supposed death. One minute Darth maul is super quick and able to block multiple attacks from two great Jedi's and the next he's so slow that he watches someone fly up from below him grab a lightsaber float towards him and cut him in half without being able to react in time. There are never ending examples of inconsistencies

Star Wars is officially dead for me because of this show. I grew up with the prequels. I remember watching a bootleg copy of Revenge of the Sith (that I still have) with my dad when I was 6 (I’m 25 now) and I loved it. When my dad saw that I was interested, he was so excited to show me the other movies. That was how my love for Star Wars began. Years later, my dad and I watched the Clone Wars movie in the theaters and the tv series every Friday when a new episode dropped. We made it a tradition to order pizza and bake either brownies or cookies. We even had lightsaber fights with those retractable lightsaber. I loved Obi-Wan’s lightsaber and used that while my dad used Darth Vader’s. My dad has since passed and I treasure those moments and memories more than anything. I wonder what he would think of the sequels and the shows that came after. Knowing him, we’d probably be making fun of The Acolyte together.

Hows it bad writing? Sol is a decent character, the 2 sisters are alright they just messed them up in the end. Its not anything captivating but it doesn’t really do anything bad. Look at ashoka, thats a show with bad writing because there is no writing, no character is developed except for the villains baylan and shin, atleast they fucking put the work in for the acoylte and had a story instead of the pointless cashgrab that is ashoka. The acoylte is far from perfect its probably only a 5/10 but atleast the characters actually have character and the show has a plot (which again, could have been rounded off better)

Thankfully, this is the first Star Wars show I haven’t watched. When I saw the interviews and the agendas being discussed beforehand, I knew deep down this wasn’t going to be worth it. Ignorance is bliss. Therefore, to me, it’s not canon. I have a theory that Filoni allowed EVERYTHING in this series to happen because I have a feeling the World Between Worlds is going to be used to rewrite canon anyway. Hopefully banish the sequels too. Could you imagine? It would make people fall in love with Star Wars again. Actually, mid-way through writing this, I just realised Rey is getting her own movie, so.. who knows? Maybe the sequels will remain. I love the fact that (through a metaphore via the Duel of the Fates) Qui-Gon dying decided the fate for Anakin to be taught by Kenobi, and, since Kenobi didn’t see the political corruption (and issues of detachment) of the Jedi like Qui-Gon did, this lead Anakin down a bad path. The reason I find this relevant to The Acolyte is because how IRONIC it is that the writers are SO politically detached from what is morally right, it is leading Star Wars down a bad path, corrupting it like Anakin.

I've forgiven Star Wars a lot of its flaws and foibles in the past. I've generally enjoyed most stuff, for all its highs and lows, most stuff has been 'okay/meh' at worst. This is the first time I think I've really intensely disliked something though. It just kept getting worse and worse and worse to the very end. Really awful show, not just as bad Star Wars, but fundamentally a bad TV show. That said, unlike a lot of people I don't see this as 'ruining Star Wars'. For the simple reason that it's so fundamentally 'not' Star Wars, I find it impossible to associate it with the rest of the franchise. This leaves no footprint or impact in my mind, it does not linger. The Acolyte is just...nothing. It touches no other part of Star Wars lore, for me. It's done.

I’m sure it’s been said already here, but in the High Republic books Vernestra hyperspace-trips - she gets hallucinatory visions while in hyperspace. It’s depicted in the books as being an important way the force communicates with/through her. Good to know that, in the grand scheme of Disney Star Wars, it goes absolutely nowhere (other than becoming an inside joke?)…

In my opinion, I feel Sol was going to kill Mae. He was using his anger as he has been so emotional this entire season. I think he was targeting her to kill her and the Tracker Gopher was being a better Jedi than Sol was and stopped him from killing her.

The only reason for that sniffing creature to bite the wires on the ship is that if he stopped the ship from working making it impossible the chase scene to continue and thus ending the story of the acolyte right there. It was a 4th wall breaking character who much like the audience was tired of the story and wanted nothing more than it to end

Leslye Headland said something to the effect that a daughter eventually needs to kill off her daddy-daughter relationship with her father and shut out her father's "I did it for you" rationalizations so she can turn away from him and stop being his daughter and become her own independent woman. According to Leslye, Osha killing Sol and not allowing him to explain himself when she kills him is a symbolic representation of that. That's why the show wants you to root for Osha killing Sol as he tries to say "I love you." It's essentially Leslye and every woman who had a dysfunctional relationship with her dad saying "Screw you, daddy" because that's the most important piece of art Leslye's ever made.
