Do a video on anything and everything carburetors? Your engine building series has opened my mind up and taught me so much, as well as your videos on everything else car building related, id like to hear what all you can teach about carbs, then maybe a separate video on fuel injection if you had time or interest, but im more interested in learning about carbs. Hopefully a good 40-50 minute video, those are your best ones. thanks :)

After I wrap up the current build series I'll do some carb stuff. I have a list of videos people has asked for and I'm working on it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Pete, outstanding as usual. You always add great little tips as well. The shop vacuum and even the extra touch of spray after removing the ground wire!! May I ask where you are located?

You should clamp the ground on the bracket that you made, not the part. The if the hook is clean, and the spot where the ground it clamped, it will provide a good ground.
@PetesGarage3 жыл бұрын
That is true, I prefer to put it on the part

Pete you forgot to tell us if you are using a single voltage stage gun or the more expensive dual stage powder coat gun?
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
This one is the single voltage, but I do have the dual voltage one

Hey Pete I'm looking at Eastwoods powder coat kit to buy, do you still like it? And do the things you powder coat last without chipping or cracking? I've had things powder coated before by a local place and they charge quite a bit for it, Eastwood has the kit for $150 dollars and packs of 6 standard colors for $50 dollars, is that what you get?
@PetesGarage8 жыл бұрын
+ArcticAstrophysics I love it. Really does an excellent job. The powders are wonderful. Very durable and do not chip. I have that kit and it is great

Nice, but what does one say to the old lady when you're taking over the oven :)
@PetesGarage10 жыл бұрын
I have a separate oven in the shop, and even if I did she'd have nothing to say : )

How does the powder coat the area where the hanger is touching the part? Does it "run" between them. Great videos btw. I think I have seen your setup on garagejournal.
@PetesGarage10 жыл бұрын
You need to hang the part where perfect coverage will not be noticed. I've never had a problem.

Does the coat crack and flake where the fasteners put pressure or is it a solid coat? Thanks
@PetesGarage10 жыл бұрын
If you put it on to thick, yes it will crack. an even, thin coat is very durable

Any tips for something porous like cast iron? It's prbably better th have clean rough surface than a sanded on I guess ? Going to be going a cast iron housing for a water pump.
@PetesGarage10 жыл бұрын
Any surface is fine. The powder will melt and flow into any kind of metal
@jcallesano10 жыл бұрын
Lazza Leppi Be aware that the surface of cast iron is not smooth. The powder finish will duplicate the finish on the cast iron. I just coated a solid steel cube that was 1.5" x 1 .5" that was rusted so bad it ate the metal. I SB'd it down to bare and coated. The finish is all cratered because the cube surfaces were cratered.

That chrome isnt durable enough without a gloss clear or a topcoat

For small parts I take the diffuser off and reduce the air pressure. Give it a try. You'll have little waste.
