Great info, thanks! I've had some issues with a blemished finish in solid 6061 aluminum plate. My powder coater said the issue was related to gas being released in the aluminum during the bake heating process. The aluminum material is not cast, so his explanation did not make sense to me. I suspect the issue was oxide in the aluminum surface prior to powder. Thanks again for the great video!

We had issue also an outgassing but happen on Zinc plated parts. we did already sent to oven prior to powder coating but still come out the outgas.. Today i had seen this outgas formula, then i try ask my powder coat supplier to try formulte the existing powder. hope this works well

Hi myself Velmurugan from Chennai,Tamilnadu, INDIA, i saw your video regarding out-gassing, we are also facing out-gassing problem in our aluminium casting its curing temp in deg C is 204 @ 7 min and its a hybrid textured powder, we tried so many methods , but still its not in control. Below are some of the trials taken but no use.... improvements 2. We created a dust free environment but no improvements desiccant

Ok, the technical team suggest that you preheat the castings to around 450F , let them bake out for around 4 - 6 hours, and then cool them and try coating. See if that works!

What about .25" thick hot rolled steel? I’ve recently been having problems with bubbles coming out of a clear powder coat which I actually got from your company. PC842 clear coat matte finish. I’ve tried preheating for 1 hour @ 450 degrees Fahrenheit to no avail.

We had a problem with this we I'm not a powder coater but a zinc disaster our PCer told us it was micron porosity under the surface of the casting bursting during curing after our lab tests we found no micron porosity we stripped linished then shotblast the parts dried them still had this accrue on the 2nd run the powder coater argued that we made bad castings that couldn't be coated but the machine we use to make them is set to the same parameters everytime and this is the first batch weve had come back with this issue Weve used this powder coater for 4 years how can we prove hes at fault. Our castings are the only ones he paints peril white finish he mainly does black frames

The technical team suggested that the powder coaters may want to try a clean nickel slag as their blast media. Another customer developed a similar problem and using the nickel slag had good success.

Whoops too quick with reply. Also check if they outgassed before powder coating and if they have tried a powder with Outgassing Forgiving (OGF) properties built in

Thank you for replying we bought in an outside powder coating lab tester today and he's suggestions where similar to yours in considering the outgas was pre preformed

We purchased powder coated high masts and client complain about the finish looks due to outgassing problem and asked us to solve that issue, can you advise what to do

Hi Shady, sorry to hear about the problem. Outgassing is most common on cast aluminum or cast steel. There is an explanation on how to avoid it (once it happens the only to get rid of it is to recoat) in the guides section of our website. You can also buy powder with OutGassing Forgiving (OGF) properties in it to help preventit. Do outgassing problem has any impact or affect on steel over life time (in case of HDG poles), I mean it might been corrosion or it is just has bad visual

@@shadyshedeed5873 We have powder with OGF properties in it availbale - and it can be added to that RAL color. I checked with the technical team and If the out gassing makes a void down to the substrate, it can certainly set up an area for corrosion to start. Recoating the poles (if possible) possible is the way forward. We dont apply powder - we just make it - but you can order the powder from us. emailing [e-mail] will get you to inside sales who can help you with that. You should also follow the advice of preheating the poles prior to coating etc as per the info in the guide.
