For earplugs, look at custom moulded musician earplugs. They are designed to cut frequencies that damage your hearing while still allowing relatively clear sound to pass through. Might be a good middle ground to stay safe and keep your hearing protected.

Do you have any advice for how to continue living a snowboarding lifestyle after high school and into university

Hey man, I never went to university so I don't have any first hand experience, but I do have friends who kept boarding through it, so this is advice from them. If your school has a ski and board club, then joining that can keep you on hill lots and surrounded by like minded individuals. Community is a great thing to focus on, fostering relationships with people you meet on hill, or joining groups online to share the stoke. My friends who kept their love for boarding usually found a way to make it work. Hope that helps!
