G-Bones are not "street wheels", and Tommy Guerrero never rode them. G-Bones and T-Bones were designed as ramp wheels with a large diameter to allow fast rolling on ramps, and reduce wheel hang up on ramp and pool coping. Street skaters never rode wheels above 60mm such as Cross Bones or Rat Bones. I believe Tommy and some other street skaters rode Powell Freestyle wheels which were even smaller. A 1/8" riser is not thick enough to use with 64mm wheels unless you run your trucks ultra tight. You will get wheel bite. You would need at least 1/4" to 1/2" riser pads with a 64mm wheel depending on how tight your trucks are. When Powell and other manufacturers stopped putting wheel wells in decks but before they started molding boards with deeper concave, we commonly used 1/2" risers with 60mm wheels to avoid wheel bite.

No doubt, I actually had the cab board in the 80s, 1/2 inch risers, thunder trucks, 60mm 97a Santa Cruz slimeballs.

You did good with the trucks, yeah it can be tricky fitting an old school board with trucks. The front almost always tappers in and the rear is almost never 10". My local skateshop had the right size truck for my board so we assembled it right there. I think it's the best way to do it if it's possible.

Thunders have the new bolt pattern and that deck has the old school bolt pattern. Only Standard Indy 159s with the 6 hole base plate or Gullwing with the 6 hole base plates will work

Did you have to drill the board? Or, did it have the new school bolt pattern? I think the current ones have the old school bolt pattern. Personally, I wish they would just use the new one. Otherwise, most trucks don't support the old pattern. Independent and Gullwing are the only ones I know of that do.

Please let me know if the 1/8 inch riser pads are big enough ? I have a diferent board but I just bought the wheels and I have 1/4 inch risers but was thinking about adding 1/8 inch to add to it and make them 3/8 but scared that may not be big enough, I am 51 yrs old and just started back again after 38 yrs and riding Bowls and vert. Love your set up... Thx.
@thedevilskind7 жыл бұрын
Bobby Parson thanks for watching. I appreciate the feedback. I did p a vid with all of the parts together. 1/8 is too small. 1/4 I felt was still too small. I don't know about 3/8 because I quickly jumped to 1/2 risers. Just experiment and please let me know how it goes. Lance Mountain is in his 50s and still kills it. Happy skating.
@bobbyparson92297 жыл бұрын
Thx Bro. Really appreciate u hitting me back... I rode with 3/8s risers today. So far so good. I didn't ride long but I will get back to you in a few days. Love the wheels though. Watched your vid and bought them. still worried that they may be to big ? Do u ride vert or street ? Again thx for the vid...
@thedevilskind7 жыл бұрын
Bobby Parson hey bud. I ride street. I mainly use the Cab as a cruiser. But I like to 5050 my curb when I skate. The enjoi rails are slick too and too afraid to boardslide. Please make a vid if you can .
@garyacey6 жыл бұрын
If you ride your trucks very tight, 3/8" might work. But 1/2" is safer with a 64mm wheel. We were riding 1/2" risers in the late 1980's with 60mm wheels.
@bobbyparson92296 жыл бұрын

I had the same board in red! Got it from Fast Forward when they were in business. It had Thunder 149's and Powell Bombers that were actually flush with the deck at both ends! I had original black Powell Rib Bones that had the 4 hole pattern. And since they weren't selling tail bones I just cut an old rail in half and used that. I hate razor tail on any board! I only paid $59 for the deck and they're at a ridiculous $80 now. So the prices are going up which isn't cool at all.

I have one more question. On a board like this, that is flat and has no concave, can you still do tricks like nose stalls and nose picks?
@thedevilskind7 жыл бұрын
chilibro I can't even do nose picks at all LOL. I enjoy cruising on this and the occasional boardslides on a parking block. this thing is fun as hell
@the_laybacks7 жыл бұрын
Virgil N but hypothetically speaking, is there enough of a nose to do a nose stall/pick?? I'm asking because I want to get a board like this but I'm not sure how well I'd like it
@thedevilskind7 жыл бұрын
chilibro not really much of a nose. It's not upturned or anything. I honestly haven't tried to do a nose stall LOL
@Tommyblueeyes5 жыл бұрын
@@the_laybacks it does have concave, just a mellow concave..its actually very nice
@mr.jamster84145 жыл бұрын
it has concave tho! nose is long enough for a short nose stall, but not enough for a drop - in or proper noseslide.
