Well done. Been thinking to do my own tests on those cheap USB chargers as I have a 18v 0.6A 10w military amorphous folding solar panel that still works after being shot with a few rounds of 7.62mm bullets 😬. I want to be able to charge a 12v and a lithium ion power bank at 5v. Now I know the charging currents possible thanks to your video. Thank you sir! Saved me a lot of time.

excellent video.....the car adapters have a t092 -78l05 5v regulator in them, i think the 7805 (bigger version) of the 5v regulator can handle more amps.....

Hello buddy, i come from a part of Africa where electricity supply is a big challenge .recently to light our community at night we rely mostly on solar powerd street lights. I have been wondering if its possible to charge our phones also using solar energy until i stumbled upon this video. I am going to try your method with the dc to dc converter used in cars. I hope to come back and tell u my experience. A breakthrough in this direction will alleviate a lot of suffering to my people

I've found with a smaller mobile phone if you plug a powerbank into the USB and powerbank out into the phone it keeps charging after the sun has gone in. I had a phone that only drew 130mA from the panel (about 0.5A when it's gone through the 5V converter) but my panel is good for 0.4 amp or more so the rest of the power is not used if I'm not using a big smart phone. With a power bank it will draw more current but the small phone will keep charging even if the sun goes in.

thank you so much for the great experiments with this panel and chargers ..I'm trying some of my own and I just burnt up my board on my 21w portable panel.i don't know how but it's fried .so it looks like I'll have to try and get a USB charger on it like you did..thank you and it's much appreciated..bless.

Great video, thanks! I was wondering if I can charge a 5 volt battery directly plugged into on of those cheap pwm charge controllers that have usb ports without a 12 volt battery to anchor the controller. I watched your video learned a few new things and had the time to think about the pwm charge controller. I realized I only have to plug in my 5 volt battery and see if it lights up the screen on the charge controller. I think I like your other two methods better tho, anyway.

Hi i have solar system on our Toyota Coaster Camper bus. And there are 2 set of double USB ports in the bus. One set at the head of the bed and another set at the bottom of the bed. Just wanted to know how I can change The solar USB ports at the head of the bed to electric. As our solar system is not set up yet. 😃😃 I want to keep one set as solar and the other one as an electric one. So we have the choice of either electric or solar to charge our phones extra 😃😃

You can charge electric cars with solar panel via USB charging ports. I've tried with regular gas cars; after charging the battery, my windows moved much faster meaning it did charged the battery. Only concern I have is over charging. There should be a controller to prevent the over charging the battery.

Can you please tell me if im charging a 20v powertool battery with this device does the battery automatically know when it is fully charged ? Is it as simple as solar panel to usb 20v - 5v and then to battery ? Sorry for my lack of knowledge .

This is great! Those cheap 5v usb plugs SAFELY regulate 20v without a charge controller or battery? Is there any way to do this SAFELY with a 200 Watt 20v solar single panels to charge and run several things with 5v 2.4a? What happens if we get perfect solar and get the full 200 Watts from the panel? I want to mount a specific flexible solar panel physical size (32 wide x 42 long) on my van.. in part because I want to benefit from the shade on my van roof. The biggest wattage I have found is 200W 20v single panel. I am testing a Chafon 200WH (18ah) portable power station that has a built in charge controller .. I tested it with a 50w panel and it fully charged in about 6 hours. The back of the unit has a warning not to use a solar panel larger than 120w and/or 22v. Given that most panels don't yield what they say would this be safe to direct connect? Also, if my real goal is run a fan in the van during direct sun light, anyway to regulate the 200w/20v panel so I don't need much battery but also so I don't burn my fan motor? Odd idea, but if too much power for the Chafon.. can I just cover part of the panel? My gut feeling is that connecting the 200W solar panel direct to the Chafon will be fine.. and that the 200W solar panel will never perform that well to be a problem.

hi vuaeco just sent a video of a food mixer I want test if motor ok as stopped working was from charity shop but its a good make its heavy glass so maybe can change switch or add my own so how do I bypass switch or the keypad thing on top and test motor.thanks.steve in uk
@vuaeco6 жыл бұрын
It depends if the motor is AC or DC. The motor of the mixer I had was a DC motor so I was able to use my power tool battery to test it. The power plug was AC but inside it has a AC to DC regulator to run the DC motor. You will have to disassemble it first to check and see if the motor is AC or DC. Some AC motors are even OK to run on DC. They are called universal motors, I think.

ive got the mixer working now maybe it was just reset switch .thanks.i need to build a 12v supply so can power a car satnav on my electric bike how would you do that?maybe 4 cells but that's 14v bit too high perhaps voltage regulator?

A lot of cheap charge controllers come with USB ports, usually 5V x 2.4A. So can't you just get a $15 charge controller and use that to charge your phone? Seems easier.
@tucuquitodelalma2 жыл бұрын
I know that I'm very late to this comment but here I go: Yes, a cheap charge controller would be better at charging a phone but to work they need to detect a load(battery), that's the method he showed at the start. The way he showed here is a method that doesn't require a battery.
@ianendangan74626 жыл бұрын
