I'm testing mine with a pedal board for acoustic guitar, running 4 pedals at around 350 ma. it's been running 8,5 hours until now without flashing (3% left) I'm pretty impressed so far. OK - 10 hours and 55 minutes before shutdown !! 10 hours and 30 minutes before flashing - that's really really impressive!

I've been using power banks to power my pedalboard for three years. You can use any power bank out there as long as you have a converter cable that steps up from 5V (the standard output for power banks) to 9V (standard input for most guitar pedals). Such cables cost around $2. The rig works great. It's completely silent since it's not linked to house power, and there's no frantic search for a power outlet on unfamiliar stages. I can power five or six pedals with a 10,000maH for three or four two-hour gigs easily.

Thanks for the video. Very informative. I have just bought the powerbank for my small bass board as I like the idea of quick setup at my blue & rock n roll cover gigs where running power to the front can be a challenge. I am running 6 powered pedals (plus one passive) via two small 3 pedal daisy chains connected to the powerbank. My board is a Pedaltrain Metro 16 and the powerbank fits neatly underneath the board which I like. The pedals in order are: 1. Korg Pitchblack Mini 2. TC Spark (always on) 3. Tomsline Octave 4. Bespeco Volume Pedal (passive so not connected) 5. Moose Dobsky Fuzz 6. Boss Bass Chorus 7. Mooer Micro DI. I've only used it at home so far and I don't notice any noise in the signal path. I plan to run it in a loud rehearsal in my friends garage that has noisy wiring. Then I will make a call on whether I will gig it or go back to my Mooer 2A PSU & daisy chain. (On a side note I am thinking of dumping the Mooer DI as I use my amp DI all the time. I can still put a Radial Stagebig in the bag as a get out of jail if the amp ever fails).

Great Review. I taught due to the pedals not being connected to ground from main power would get rid of the digital noise too. I was wrong. After watching this video I decided to just buy two power banks 10,000mAh and two 5v to 9v dc booster cables that can produce 500mA each which works out cheaper than the cheaper guitar power banks

Planning to do this as well. I'm currenly running my analog pedals with a powerbank and booster and my multifx with a wall wart. Waiting for my powerbank purchase. I thought they isolated the outputs of the powerplant. Sad.

Your pedals are very close together for side-mounted jack pedals... how is this possible? what connectors are you using?

your video is awesomely complete. Excuse my dumb questions cause I'm a little ignorant on all this. And I know theres not a straight answer for my first question but... I was searching something to power my looper outdoors so i can play in the sun but I'm a little scared on the static noise to buy this pedal mk2 version. I'm not a pro... would you advice me to get it? I'm not sure how good of an investment it is for someone like me who owns like 3 pedals and plays outdoor once a week tops.. the mk2 which i was thinking to buy has more ports which i dont really need right now but might need in the future... but then... will the battery degradate with time and make it unusable? Secondly, how were you playing the pedals i dont see any cables xD and the power supply is only connected to one of them ? about the powering is it because they are analog they share the input power between them??

Hi Max, there is also Boxking powerbank, you can approach to them and maybe they will send to you for review purpose. I ordered it from Amazon USA and use it now and still quite good but fortunately i don’t have any resource to test like your method. Also it has higher output jacks, one 12v and one switchable 18-24v

The 10000 mAH figure will be at 4.4v so will be about 5000 mAH at 9v

Hey dude, love the vid. Definitely the most educational and well documented video on the subject! I've actually been working on my own power bank powered pedal board however I'm having issues. Everything's wired up, the total milli amp draw is 500mah (the native pedal draw combined). I have a 5000mah powerbank - 5v @ 2amp, with a 9v converter I put together and have 5 pedals dasiychained to it. All 5 pedals can run off of the powerbank when connected directly to one another in a chain, however my configuration has two separate lines; as soon as I've patched them all, the powerbank switches off two of the pedals are stereo and I utilize this for vocal effects separate from my guitar effects line, the guitar line of which runs on an fx loop built into my D.I. Somehow this second line/stereo line strains the powerbank in some way but I'm unsure how to measure what the total current is and answer the 'why', so i can figure out what powerbank i need any ideas? (note I've tested the 9v converter with an ac adaptor and it powers everything fine)

Great review as usual, and a surprisingly decent device. I am using exactly the same unit, except it is branded Tomsline Engineering/Aroma, and it was bought from China. Since you're so damn good at making detailed reviews and really touching upon all important aspects, I have a few quesitons that I can't answer myself, since I have no measurement equipment nor skills to use it lol. 1) If I understand correctly, both 9V outputs have a total current rating of 1000mA max. What about the 5V out? If I connect a load to it, will it reduce the 9v available current accordingly? 2) Did you compare it to the other unit in your possession, Rockboard PowerLT? How do they compare in terms of noise? On paper Rockboard seem to have less juice, but how is it in real life? 3) Have you tried the Mission Engineering 529? I am very tempted by this little device, on paper it sounds fantastic, isolated outputs, the flexibility to use basically any powerbank as a source, etc, but for 150+ bucks it has to be damd good, and there are no good reviews (I mean your level good, with measurements and attention to details etc) to make the judgement.

Mine has some problems, after continuous use. 1) you cannot charge and use it at the same time 2) It does not last as long, as it used to do ( I use the same pedals and my overall current is 500mA) 3) The flashlight is dead 4) Overall, I am thinking of switching to a Palmer power bank & use this one for the amp (Roland Micro Cube) 6) it takes over 12 hours to fully charge

1 is strange, mine worked as expected. 2 is normal and usually caused by interrupted charging. The batteries inside surely have some memory effect. Several cycles of full discharging/recharging may improve the situation a little. Regarding 6, use 2A charger, that will speed up the process.

Интересует такой момент: если у меня куча цифровых педалей от 300 до 500ма (около 8 штук) и допустим я хотел бы запитать их этим повербанком, допустим даже двумя, они реально загнутся оба через пару часов? У тебя просто много аналоговых педалей и время может сильно разниться. И второй вопрос который я задавал официальному производителю, но пока ответа не дождался - "Можно ли сплитер кабелем подключить два таких повербанка и запитать 18 вольтовую педаль?") Очень интересует ответ

I want to power the Behringer Flow 8: 5Volt DC 2000mA MiniUSB and the Digitech Trio+: 9Volt DC 800mA coaxial connector (middle minus) with this Harley Benton PowerPlant! Does anybody have tried this? These are two digital devices, and I'm curious how much noise It would produce?

However, I have a specific question regarding my setup that may be useful for others too, and it would be great if it could be answered since I am wondering if buying or not. I consider myself as a casual guitarist and I just play for fun, but I also like to take my electric guitar with me whenever I can and play around. My setup would be then: - Gibson Les Paul Studio - Blackstar FLY 3 Mini Amp BK - Line 6 POD X3 Would you happen to know if the Harley Benton Powerplant Powerbank would be capable of powering both Blackstar fly 3 mini amp & POD X3? As I said earlier, I am not looking for maximum performance, I just want to know if they can be powered and just play with enough sound quality. Thank you again! Hi Alejandro. I have POD X3 and its power requirements are very clearly stated at the bottom of the unit. It needs 2A 9V AC, not DC. So you definitely won't be able power it with the Powerplant

Thanks for the review. When you charge it while using it, does it restart when pluging/unpluging from the external power supply? Does the power continuously flow even in the moment when it is conected/disconnected to external power?

It doesn't restart. Even when plugged it still uses the actual internal battery, so there's no interruption

Great Review! I am thinking of powering 2 pedals and a small amplifier with this unit. (1)Boss RC-3(powered with a 9V battery), (2) an old multifx unit-> Korg ToneWorks AX 1G(powered with 4 AA batteries) and (3) the amplifier is powered with 2 "D"batteries. Do you think it will work? Check voltage and amperage ratings on your devices. Powerplant won't give you anything but 9V
