Hi Daniel, do you have a new video about this PowerApp and PowerBI integration nowadays? Would be very exciting to see another of your magic trick. Also if you cover about PowerApp for Team and its integration with Power BI (also in Teams). I'm your number 1 fans ! :)

Hi, Daniel, thanks for the demo. Just a question, do you know if it is possible, when you are filling your form, and if you click on the name of the student in the Table Visual, it could autofill the form? Do you know it?
@DanielChristian193 жыл бұрын
Your welcome. Yes, you can. Make sure when you create the connection from Power BI report, you select all the fields from the table that you will need to autofill the form.

Very informative and helpful - thank you!!! Question - once you have a PowerApp in BI, can you use that PowerApp outside of the BI report for which it was created? I have a very basic PowerApp in BI that simply displays some data. The data source I am using when I create the BI report is Analysis Services. In Power BI Services I see my power BI report with the App and it works as I expected, but when I open the PowerApp, outside of BI, the app does not work as expected (data values are not showing up). It is as if there is no data connection outside of PowerBI. Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!!
@DanielChristian194 жыл бұрын
Hi Cecilia, Glad you found the vBlog useful. Yes, the Power App app can be used outside of the BI report as well but remember since it has the Power BI Integration connection, the initial viewing gallery may not function you wish, however, any new entries you add will update the Power BI visualizations. Hope this helps!

Thanks Daniel for this awesome video. Do we need power apps premium licenses (per app or per user) for this or will O365 E3/E5 license enable us as well for this integration writing back to SQL.
@DanielChristian193 жыл бұрын
Hi Tarun, Thanks for the compliment. Yes, you will need either a per app or per user license for this.

Hi and thanks for sharing ! I tried to se the same, and I've got a question, when I use datas from a Sharepoint list, after sending the form I need the next refresh to happen (every 30min) on my PowerBI report to get my new datas. How did you manage to have your data refreshed instantly when you add it ? Thx a lot :-)
@DanielChristian193 жыл бұрын
Hi Vincent, SharePoint is not a delegable data source hence the auto refresh in the Power BI report will not work. You will have to leverage Power Automate flow to do that.

Hello, thanks for the video. I am new to power apps and I have a question about the way you made the power apps. As showed in the video, after I deleted the original gallery, I found that the app lost the capability to interact with the power BI. Also, if I add another gallery and using the original data sources for the gallery, it also didn't interact with the power bi filters. Seems like the only way to make the power apps interact with the power bi is using the gallery that the power apps created for you. Do you have any solution for this situation?
@DanielChristian193 жыл бұрын
Hi Jingxiong, The key item to look for is the Power Bi Integration connector which is hard-coded in the app when you open it from Power BI Report Builder. if that is missing then the integration will not work. You are correct, galleries are the best way to have the BI integration to work with the app. Even if you want to view just one item in the app form, have the selected item from say the BI data table show up in the Power Apps gallery and then use the First(Gallery.AllItems) formula to get the data for each control. Hope this helps and keep Power Apping!
@jingxiongwang6543 жыл бұрын
@@DanielChristian19 hello Daniel, thanks for your reply! I using the same data sources as the power bi is using and by referencing the powerbiintergation, I can make any list, gallery interact with the power bi! Thanks again for your video, it is very valuable! Stay safe!

Hi Daniel, Did you use Directquery or live connection to get this direct refresh working? I am building a proof of concept for one of our clients and am wondering about any limitations. We want to edit data in Dynamics 365 directly and refresh in the report, will a directquery connection to that specific entity work for this?
@DanielChristian195 жыл бұрын
Hi Stefan, Yes, I am using Direct Query. Here's a link that shows the list of data sources supported by Direct Query. Dynamics 365's CDS isn't listed there. --> docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-directquery-data-sources

Thank you for the valuable info . I am new to power bi and still trying to understand few things . Could you please let me know if it is possible to write back a parameter from Power BI to a table in the data base . For example , lets say i have a selector in the report and selects maximum and minimum values a . Could you please let me know if it is possible to write back these value to a table in database .
@DanielChristian195 жыл бұрын
Hey Aravind, Yes, it is possible and I have built a few of them successfully. In a nutshell, you should create a gallery that gets filtered based on the Power BI visualization filters. Then use a ForAll with Patch of Update to save the filtered gallery to your data source. Hope this helps

Hi - can this method work with a data source linked to a SharePoint list? I tried today before watching your video and whilst I built a simple app to test things out, and a simple visual to hopefully see the new data - nothing happened. I did see in your video that I need to add in the data source to my app which I didn’t do so maybe that would make things happen? I have an existing report linked to SAP databases on import - can I have a SharePoint list as a source in this same report using a direct connection? Thanks!
@DanielChristian194 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, SharePoint is not a Direct Query data source and hence it will not work. Here are the list of all the Power BI data sources docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/power-bi-data-sources

Daniel Christian thanks for getting back to me. I came to the same conclusion through my research :( I guess that’s also why I could not type in powerbiintegration,refresh() ... sad times. Was hoping to impress the bosses Monday! But as a work around I am going to do the trick where you use power automate to trigger a power bi data set refresh following a SharePoint list update. Not as good as real time but I guess only option at moment, would you know why it isn’t a direct connection?

Hi that's informative video. I have a quick question. How Powerapps is different than Power BI mobile version ? Thanks
@DanielChristian195 жыл бұрын
Hi Anjan, PowerApps can be used to build a low or no-code mobile app to view AND submit data. Power BI can be used to view and export data only. I call Power BI the big brother because it is the first product of the Power Platform family. Hope this helps!
@anjan_j_k10505 жыл бұрын
Thanks Daniel for the info. 😊 Yes. Using Power BI we can view and export data but is this applies to power BI app version which we can download from playstore ! Bcoz when we have the power BI app version available in playstore why we have to use the powerapps ?
@DanielChristian195 жыл бұрын
Exporting data from Power BI report works best from a desktop and you do that from a browser directly. PowerApps works directly from the browser as well, unless you are using a mobile or tablet device, it's preferred to use the desktop browser to view and use the studio.

Great video, does this only work with submitting forms and not patching? I can seem to get it to work on an AP that has not been created from scratch.
@DanielChristian195 жыл бұрын
Thank Alex. I haven't tested Patch yet but my educated guess would be yes, it will work because Patch will also save the data to the same table.

@@DanielChristian19 Also how would you delete a record? I tried the formula you referenced above and that didn't work . "Remove('[dbo].[Test]',ThisItem)"
@DanielChristian195 жыл бұрын
Couple of things you need to confirm: 1) Confirm you have selected the trash icon (or whichever icon) you are using and add the formula in the OnSelect feature. 2) Refer to your SQL table name. In my example the SQL table name was Test. 3) Finally confirm the formula is correct by making sure no red squiggly line shows up telling you there is an error in some formula.
