Power Boat Chase in Florida! Wow Donzi 43 ZR & 38 ZR - a behind the scenes look at Donzi speed boat test pilots stunt practice.
Like piloting a missile through the sea. While the dialogue in the Miami Vice movie can be incomprehensible at times, one term sticks out: "go fast boats."
In the film, based on the 1980s TV series that made wearing pastel suits look cool, detectives Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell) and Ricardo Tubbs (Jamie Foxx) try to infiltrate an international illegal drug operation.
The detectives, posing as bad guys, use ultra-slick powerboats to take "the load" ( the drugs) to Miami. There is much chatter about the need to use go-fast boats for the job.

I thought the video was zoomed in from the heli, until the skids came into view. That is some amazing and dangerous stunt piloting, hes flying into their roost in some shots. That low and at those speeds is incredible flying.

What a perfect video I would give my left one to be driving the 38 ZR (I love those boats) I have a Donzi Black Hawk with a supercharged 502 GM engine in it running open headers and its BEEN A VERY LONG WINTER our lake still is covered with ice BUT its coming and as far as fuel burn I cannot wait to get out and send 500.00 out the pipes, best money spent EVER!!!

The 43 was toying with the other boat, allowing him to set the pace while staying right on his heels. You could hear him open up the throttle from time to time and had no problem running him down.

Thanks for this version too. I'm torn, I like just the engine sounds as it reminds me of the old days of watching racing in Key West but, I truly think the music version also sets a mood and makes it majestic and bad ass at the same time. Just spit out two versions so you have everyone covered. Haha. By the way, when I used to shoot boats on the water, I'd put a dead cat or a foam windscreen on a mic and secure on the dash. Then before they start the engines, I'd get someone on the boat to do the old clap clap for sync and use that instead of the mix of helicopter and boat. It's a heck of a lot cleaner. You could probably even use a Rode mic (lav) that you plug into a cell phone so you don't have to secure a sound recorder onboard.

Pretty cool! You have any links to see the results? back in the day we wheren’t to too worried about engine sounds for the purposes it was shot for. Can’t please them all 🤷‍♂️ I’m sure they would all love 3 minutes of 100 mph wind into a mic 🎤

@@BeyondPerformancePowerboats I would love to provide an example but I was always just hired as a freelancer for those videos and didn't keep the footage. It can't hurt for you to just try it out next time by any means you can because you're still going to get your usual audio from the camera in the heli. Plus if the onboard audio ends up working, you can blend the heli audio with it and make a real nice mix. Just don't forget music for me. 😂
