If I use POE to connect my Transit Duo to my Pepwave AP mini how close can the two devices be. My Transit Duo antennas are connected to a Poynting Mimo 3-17 antenna mounted directly above my Transit Duo.

the mini has a more powerful transmitter so generally if you have them mounted close together most clients will just hop to the mini. That said if you have a setup where they are both close together its likely better to just disable wifi on the TRansit that way it can focus on WIFI as WAN responsibilities rather than playing double duty. Then the AP mini will manage the client wifi. You can disable the transit WIFI by simply moving the WIFI AP Toggle on the dashboard to OFF status which will disable the transmitter on the Transit. WIFI as WAN will continue to work via the roof antenna. We recommend to have an ethernet cable handy before doing any testing as if you disable the wifi and your AP Mini is offline, you wont be able to get to the pepwave (unless you go through incontrol and the modem is online). If you have an ethernet cable you can always just plug into the LAN port for direct access to turn the wifi back on if needed.

I have a Pepwave MaxTransit Pro that has worked really well for me with the paddle antennas that come with the router, all located in our 24 foot coach. However, we want to improve our cellular signal even more so today we bought the Pepwave Mobility 42G. Will I still need an access point when install the roof antenna? I use cellular data 99% of the time. That’s why we bought the dual modem router so that we could have plenty of cellular redundancy. I never rely on campground WiFi. Can I just disable WiFi AS WAN and allow the WIFI radios in the router to be dedicated to the local WIFI? I don’t want to install an access point unless you think my WiFi will be substantiallydegraded by moving the antenna to the roof unit. We will be streaming Smart TV, Zoom, Sonos and using iPads, laptops and phones. About 10-15 devices.

@@stuartrogel9117 no need to add an ap to start however you may want to skip adding the wifi antennas to the 42g and just connect the small black wifi antennas so wifi transmits inside the rv instead of off the roof if your using wifi inside mostly. Some customers elect to hook one up to roof and one up to small back antenna so wifi transmits from both locations. Id try that first but not an ap will significantly increase the wifi range if you add later as they are higher power and help out a lot with larger rigs. Still id try without to start!

@@MobileMustHave do I have to change any settings on the router so that the router broadcasts as WiFi inside the rig and not as WiFi as WAN?

How many Amps does it use and idle at at 12 volts?
@MobileMustHave

On our website under the documentation tab for each item there are spec sheets for each device that will show the max watts for each device. The majority are around 18 watts max, so at 12v that would be around 1.5DC amps at full load.

3:09 If the "Brick" is 120ACV step down to 12DCV then just CUT THE PLUG OFF and fuse it into your 12DCV power.
@MobileMustHave
@MobileMustHave 2 жыл бұрын
sure can but you destroy you 120v wall plug and have to buy the fuse, cable and butt connectors (or solder and electrical tape). Not sure that will all add up to less than15 bucks which the fused cable will run you before discounts but its certainly an option.
