Thanks for the mention (The Bings). We are excited about all that has happened in the last year since our “debut” CD came out. And we about to see the release of the LP vinyl on Bachelor Records, which includes a few live tracks as well. Thanks again.

Hi Quint. Thanks so much for getting in touch. I'm glad I came across your "debut" CD. Good luck with the LP release. I'll give it a mention in the next 'Power Pop Shakers' video. A lot of collectors prefer vinyl, so I suspect you'll pick up quite a few new fans ... Did all the band work for Bomp back in the day? Are you still in touch with the rest of the band?

@@carltweed942 All of the original members either took part or new what was going on. About 3/4 of us did a 40 year reunion show at Power Pop Takeover in LA last August. So that was a blast. Dave Chrenko, who was the main songwriter and visionary of the band, was the only one that worked at Bomp. It’s has been fun resurrecting these tracks that most of which were never heard by anyone and getting so much attention 40 years later. It’s amazing how much good power pop is out there. That’s been a big part ofnthr fun too.

The Umbrellas have been mentioned from Sam.. The Vinyl Douche, I will listen to these tunes in a bit 🎵
@carltweed9428 ай бұрын
Hi JT. I subscribed to the Vinyl Douche just a few weeks ago, but I've not given any of his videos a proper watch yet. The Umbrellas are definitely a good band; one of the best the Slumberland label has had since The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart ... If you're listening to the playlist, I've already added a few new tracks, including two new tracks by Lemon Twigs. The next LP will definitely be their breakthrough to a mainstream audience. They were on Jimmy Fallon; in fact I'll add that video too.

Hi Carl - This is just what I needed on a Monday morning. Wow, more Canadian music that I am unaware of! Pylon is fabulous. These sound intriguing, as always.

Hi Brian. Ducks Ltd's album release show is on the 8th February at Toronto Sonic Boom. Jonesy are from Montreal ... The Pylon I refer to is not the Athens, Georgia band (who I also love), but a band from Wakefield near Leeds. Superb guitar pop songs. Polydor Records were sniffing around for awhile, but never took the plunge ... I'll be watching your latest sale bin finds video later. Cheers.

Wow ! Good Stuff, Carl.. I enjoyed Mo Troper Citgo Signs.. Ornate was cool , and Pylons.. I like a lot ! The Fallen Leaves, The Speedways, very nice ! Teenage Head, The Mono Men, Uni Boys, Bring You Back "Rain Parade" real good ! Woolworthy, The Gee Strings.. I like. The harp player sounded like ours ! Richie Blue, in my old band Mary Underground with Kai ! I will check out more, later. Good playlist. Where I'd Rather Be is amazing, and always good to hear Guided By Voices !

Hi JT. That Mo Troper song is excellent isn't it? Some of his other stuff has had very rushed throwaway production ... I'm glad you like St Cyrus and Pylon. Pylon blew me away around 2000 ... Rain Parade are touring in the UK in the summer. I can't wait, as I missed out on seeing them in the 80's ... Woolworthy are special too. I saw them live in the early 2000's ... Sharp Class deserve to be on a big independent label.

Sharp Class I will revisit ! Thanks, Carl ⚡️🎵

@@jtsrecordroom3963 I remember you liked the first video I posted of Sharp Class doing 'Tales Of A Teenage Mind'. They look cooler in the updated video they did in 2023.

I remember now. I will check them out again on my commute.. That's how I listened to much of your playlist.. In the car, one of my favorite places for good listening ✌️

Listening to Sharp Class reminds me of a little bit Green Day, and a little bit.. The Jam ( Paul Weller ). Cool band, I do like them a lot 🎵

Great stuff Carl, started dipping in the playlist. I’ve finally bought a car with a digital radio, so am enjoying 6 music. Sunday morning Gideon Coe played ‘Move With The Dawn’ by Marc Eric. Never heard of him? Absolutely wonderful. I immediately thought ‘This is a Carl Tweed tune!’

Hi Harris. I wish I'd got a digital radio when I changed cars. God knows why I didn't ... I had the Mark Eric CD 'A Midsummer's Day Dream' on a want list many years ago. It looks like it has just come out on LP on Cherry Red. Definitely one to add to the Power Pop Shakers playlist. Thanks for letting me know. Wonderful stuff.

I really enjoy it.Lauren Laverne is excellent. And Cery’s on a Sunday is good. I know the BBC takes some heat..but over a day you hear a fabulous mix of music.@@carltweed942

Hey Carl, I was wondering when you were going to drop a new Power Pop Shakers! video. I've already listened to a few cuts you posted like (If It's Not Rock & Roll) Go To Hell. I had to play that one. I have to mention that I bought the CD Guitar Romantic by The Exploding Hearts a few weeks ago and I love it. Really good stuff on that record. Thanks for letting me know about that one Carl. See ya. Tom

Hi Tom. Yes, I could have posted a new Power Pop Shakers video last month, but I got distracted with the vinyl tag video. I'll start looking for more tracks for the playlist again shortly ... I'm really pleased you like the Exploding Hearts CD. It's so sad to think about what they might have gone on to do and the horrific tragedy that occurred. Take care, Carl

I think about the tragedy of that band all the time when I'm listening to them. 🎶

Hi John. Thomas Walsh should be right up your street if you like ELO. I'm not sure what streaming service you use. I rely on KZbin and Bandcamp to discover new bands. Some of the records I mention are on small independent labels which probably aren't on a streaming service. Thanks for commenting.
