I actually came up with the idea of five humans from Earth inheriting the Psycho Ranger powers. Later, a sixth one would appear as the Silver Psycho Ranger. These Psycho Rangers would be more heroic but not bound by the rules of the Morphin Grid.

I had a similar idea. 5 troubled youths possessed by wicked supernatural beings, hellbent on conquest. The catch is that these beings were weakened to the point that they had to permanently fuse with their hosts. The result is a Jekyll/Hyde situation, where the two sides of each have to either fight for dominance or find a compromise. The monsters are all random and unorganized, due to there being o grand unifying evil. The rangers are ultimately under power, compared to the usual. As such, these 5(possibly 7) psychos hunt them down and literally rip the evil out of what’s left in order to strengthen themselves.

So I’m actually trying to come up with a Power Rangers Psycho fanfic and this is what my co author and I have in terms of the teen’s backstory and motivations It’d be a story where five juvenile delinquents would inherit the original Psycho Ranger’s power sources the “Psycho Cores” after they’ve inadvertently released from Juvie by a new villain attacking their hometown. Some of them (particularly the Psycho Blue and Green) want to use their powers to carve out a territory for themselves amidst the chaos and put themselves in an advantageous position when the villains take over. The other three are motivated their powers to fight the villains motivated by Self Preservation, a desire to protect home and family and revenge respectively. Psycho Blue wants to carve out his own Criminal Empire out of the disarray and put himself in a position of power. Partly because his parents and family are part of an actual crime family. Psycho Green wants to just take advantage of the chaos to cause more chaos so he can quote “Sit back with a bag of popcorn and a soda to watch the world burn”. Which was partly why he was arrested, he’s an anarchist who loves causing chaos. Psycho Pink is motivated purely by self preservation and just wants to make sure she survives this whole fiasco, as that’s typically how she was, she stole, fought and took advantage of things just to get by and survive another day. Psycho Yellow wants to protect her home, friends and family, especially since it was the reason why she was arrested in the first place, because she nearly beat a guy who was terrorizing her little brother to the point of suicide to death. Psycho Black wants to do her “hero” work for money so she can have enough money to pay for her and her parents bills, which is why she was thrown into jail, she tried to get more money and was framed for embezzlement. And Psycho Red is motivated solely by a desire for revenge. Because when he was thrown in jail, he had almost drowned a guy in a fountain, and he did so to get revenge on the guy for sexually assaulting his mother and his sister. He’s now wanting revenge on the villains because their path of destruction took the lives of his mother and sister. Names, designs, weapons and zords are currently a work in progress

Five teens with bad attitudes run from new villains looking to concour earth. As they do they stumble upon the remnants of the Phyco rangers. Taking their morphing power sources out of curiosity the “Phyco cores” lead them to what is left of the Mighty Morphen command center. Where the cores point them to what was once Zordons energy tube. As they near their energies leap from the core into the tube revealing Dark Specter. Dark Spector tells the tale of how he was destroyed but thanks to his energies being siphoned by the “Phyco Cores” his spirit was able to remain in the world. The teens make a deal with Dark Spector. Power ranger powers for their help in regaining his physical form and a place by his side after he concours the planet himself. Will the new Phyco rangers betray their homework’s? Or will the true spirit of the rangers break through their insanity?

This music is freaking epic and I want it on several of my playlists! I think their origin was actually delved into in the Boom comics. If a new team/series around them was made; I'd have them be something like the Suicide Squad; where they start out as monsters who are picked by either the morphing grid itself or by a previous evil-turned-good force to use these previously evil powers to do something good. Astronema/Karone would be the obvious choice for a mentor figure; but the show had several repentant monsters to choose from that could work.

Would be a nice change up. Instead of 5-6 heroic teens make them problem delinquents. which draws in psycho rangers power sources because of their darker emotions but right as they gain these powers they are attacked on by an organization that has been seeking the same power. over the duration of the series they slowly begin mending their ways and reforming by supporting each other in ways their own families and others never could. Could even make the evil organization pretending they are some peace keeping force for the city. Blaming the rangers for these monster attacks and population hates the rangers at the start but over time realize it makes no sense why these evil rangers are protecting them.
