After Season 6, Susan moves out of Wisteria Lane. Her storylines from that point on are almost completely separate from the other characters. Any time they are “together” you never see all the characters in one shot. This is particularly the case when they are playing cards. Terri’s stand in (filmed from behind) is used in the wide shots to give the illusion that she’s in the scene with the other characters. It’s filmed well so you don’t really notice but I assumed at the time that this was due to the feud between the cast

@@sandyforbes6551 but scenes are filmed separately all the time, it has to be shot from different angles so cameras aren’t seen. Stand ins are super common. There’s even been some issues with old friends episodes and Monica’s stand in being shown. It’s pointless having the named actor on set to be shot from the back. All the actors will have had stand ins.

I never knew the ins and outs of the Vanity Fair shoot, but by the sounds of it, Teri wasn’t the issue. It sounds as though Marcia Cross is the one who created a lot of drama and that may have continued until later seasons which is why Teri felt she had to distance herself from it. In 2006, which is after the Vanity Fair shoot, you can see Teri applauding Felicity Huffman’s Golden Globe win, which makes me wonder.

That’s the vibe I’m getting now, to be honest. Though Marc Cherry’s letter supporting Felicity is the only thing that contradicts it. There was an instance on Tomorrow Never Dies where Hatcher and Brosnan briefly feuded due to her turning up late. However, when it emerged she was pregnant and that was the reason she would run late, he apologised and they made up, and he later went on to say his scenes with her are among some of his favourite as Bond. Despite her saying she didn’t take any special satisfaction from playing a Bond girl, she looked back at her experience quite fondly on Inside the Actors Studio from memory.

Just because she thought the other women were bitches doesnt make her evil. But the media over blow everything. I really need us to examine this with the proper context which is that any time there is a show that has female leads, the producers/studio will go out of their way to make us think that the women hate each other, are divas and other negative things. Remember that the industry thrives on misogyny and pitting women against each other. Just look at how the ladies on One Tree Hill were treated the whole time or how the behind the scenes drama of Charmed is still talked about today. All of that being said, Terri Hatcher was the biggest name going into the first season so i would make sense for her to want to be paid more, have certain attitudes and whatever else. While i dont doubt that she was a bit difficult towards the other women, I can also understand where she was coming from.

I think half of any feuds between the women were due to them being hungry or on a miserable diet, they all were so skinny on the show but when it ended they looked much better. That level of stress to maintain a weight your body doesn't naturally want would definitely play a huge role in making people bitchy and looking back at the 90s/00s feuds with female actors and singers, it seems like that could be a huge factor in why any of the feuds began. It also seems like that enabler guy caused 90% of that shoot's drama, i think they had all been told different things while teri was told something else and placing that bright red next to marcia's turquoise would have not been as nice as the white outfit in the middle to bridge the gap, i do wonder if the decision to make it a gatefold cover was after the shoot to make teri feature on the front cover because putting her there in the shoot knowing it was going to be a gatefold cover would have contradicted putting her in the middle to some extent. I do think teri tried to keep in good graces with marc cherry so she got better treatment than the others but we will never know exactly what happened. They say there is 3 sides to every story and Katheryn Joosten sort of confirmed something happened to Nicollete especially recounting a different form of contact that he claimed in the lawsuit, but her turning up late all the time would have definitely grated on everyone involved, i'm surprised they didn't write her out sooner.
