Was just about to purchase the Opaque and thought that I should give it another go with search for review. And.. yeah.. you just made my mind up and saved me like 24 bucks. Did you try to cast a print along with regular wax in the same flask? Asking because I don't do casting myself, I give my works to a guy who only does casting. Good channel, keep up.

Hi, I’m currently using power cast burn and printing with any cubic photon s. My models on the computer show that the prongs are in the correct spot but when it’s printed they collide…. Do you have any take on that? I’ve tried lowering the microns and exposure time but still get bad prongs but the models come out.

Amazing video!!!!Do you sand the piece before casting, if you do which grit do you use? Which casting machine do you use? What exposure setting do you use for dark? Which is good for pave and filigree?
@ClearMindJewellery

We don’t sand before casting. Exposure settings are listed in the community page. The kaya cast vacuum there is a review of it on the channel. Zero for pavé.

I used the dark resin but it seems like it wont cast perfectly im using plasticast too :( can it be the cured time ? Or maybe the mix even if i followed the rules :( and what burnout cycle did you use ? 5-6-8 hours ? Thanks
@ClearMindJewellery
@ClearMindJewellery 3 жыл бұрын
8 Hours is a minimum when dealing with resin burnout, the larger your item the longer you should hold you max temp up to 2 hours. I would start there if you were less then 8 hours: f7a06ad6-4b2e-4070-9571-9eb8e938f9fc.filesusr.com/ugd/cc5f22_902ad781b4e74bf3b3d55bff34f7fe6c.pdf

Just curious - in this age of castable resins, do you still see any advantage at all to using the resin print -> silicone mold -> wax injection method?

@@ClearMindJewellery How about casting quality. Do the castable resins generally give the same casting finish as regular wax for you? Thanks!

You get out what you put in. If the resin printed well and is made correctly it prints with a surface finish equivalent to wax.

I am using resinworks, however in some parts with low relief writing problem, I am quite in doubt between the power resin wax (blue) and the bluecast x10 sharpinnazer, do you have any indication?
@ClearMindJewellery
@ClearMindJewellery 4 жыл бұрын
I believe we replied on Instagram but in case anyone else wants to know. We've tried CR3A with good results, and X10 with Sharpanizer. The casting for both has been perfect, but printing with X10 is a real hassle. We also found with resin works on some bulkier models the resin expansion can result in infill like in our PLA vs Resin vs Wax video, though usually not as badly.

@DarthMonkey180
@DarthMonkey180 3 жыл бұрын
apparently applying a thin layer of resin with a small brush onto the platform and curing it under a UV light for 5-10mins should help. It is also recommended to repeat this process 2-3x for better adhesion

Do you do a water wash after washing the prints in alcohol?
@ClearMindJewellery
@ClearMindJewellery 3 жыл бұрын
We do the washing cycle in alcohol on our CW1 and then immediately do the drying cycle. No water wash. Power Resins doesn’t need any post UV so we just dry. With some other resins it’s a drying cycle and then UV.

@@ClearMindJewellery Thanks for the response. I actually design, print and pass the pieces to a jeweler to cast. I use the opaque but it seems like a hit and miss with the casting as some items cast perfect and other times its a mess. Also do with think sealing the prints in a air tight bag after drying might help reduce shrinkage if you're not casting immediately?
@ClearMindJewellery
@ClearMindJewellery 3 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of reasons things can come out imperfect. If your models are really heavy for example. However I would check in with your casting studio about their burn out schedule and investment. If either aren’t meant for resin it will wreck the cast. It’s best to cast resins ASAP but if you reduce air and light exposure it will help.

Fast burnout is typically more a feature of the Investment, look for Dental investment, they are often times designed for rapid firing. Bluecast X10 and One X are both very high wax content resins that I've heard handle Rapid Burnout pretty well.
