Have you seen a power station that has hot swappable batteries? I haven't. This one is pretty cool.

Look up Honda Solar generator. They aren't our yet. Has a removable battery. Cheers.

Hobotech reviewed this unit last summer when it was being crowdfunded, and Runhood took his suggestions to improve it and actually implemented them, which makes this unit darn near perfect! He said the unit should have mc4 solar connectors like other makes do, should have dust covers on the battery compartments for when a battery is not in it, should have a notch or marking on the unit and battery to help NOT put them in upside-down (which could compromise the connectors), and should have a way to charge the batteries directly from solar!!! Fabulous improvements. He expects this company to make larger models that are similar as they see the demand for this type of product.

Yes, they are making other units that will use the energy bars. I'll be testing the larger inverter unit sometime soon.

Do you know if you're running a low draw, 12V small fan for say 6 hours, if the unit will shut off - because the power load / draw is low or if the unit will keep running ?

This is exactly what I am looking for. USB charging, simultaneous ac and usb charging, swappable batteries and fast usb ports!! This thing is a dream!

There’s not a lot of hot swapping capable power banks out there but one I do know of personally is the Ego Nexus 3kW power station.

Great review. I wish I had one to review. I just bought a Bluetti and it would be great to compare the two. Nice job on the video!

Thanks! What Bluetti do you have? I have some of their units. What kinds of comparisons would you want to see?

Thanks for the video. this seems like a great idea. it'll be interesting to see if any of the other companies try to imitate it. All the best.,

Thanks! I was just at CES and saw Runhood's newest model. It uses the same energy bars but has some increased output and features. I didn't see any other companies at CES that had this type of system, so I guess we'll see.

Thanks! Runhood plans to make larger units that also use the energy bars. They were showing it off the prototype at CES.

Regardless of what it can do, anything less than 1000w isn't worth having. Prices on these things are getting better every day, it makes no sense to buy small + not have to carry a box of batteries around.

This is a cool concept but the use cases for this is actually limited due to the main unit only having a max of about 600wh. Yes, you can swap more in but the problem is that if you have something running continuously throughout the night, it's a hassle to have to get up to switch the battery packs.

I think this looks very interesting, but it leaves me with a few questions I am hoping you can answer: 1) How long does it take to recharge the Energy Bars from the Solar Panels that are in the bundle? 2) How do you deal with the AC outlets being only two prong (when so many items like laptops and refrigerators need three)? 3) Is there an app for monitoring these? Particularly if you get more then one master unit?
@solarguy

I hope I can help. 1- What input method would you want to get timed? And by the main unit or through the box with the serial port connections? 2 - Portable power stations like these have a floating ground so they do not need a physical ground hole. The 600 is designed to take a 3 prong plug. If you look there is an opening between the AC outlets. 3 - I am not currently aware of an app for this runhood device.

@@solarguy Was hoping to see how long it would take to recharge solar - ideally the energy bars through the direct connection since I am hoping I can recharge those while the main unit is running. Thanks!
@solarguy

Gotcha. That would be a variable amount because of the sun and how much solar wattage you are using, but in general you could say a 100W solar panel over 3 hours will pretty much fill up the 324W energy bar.

So this is lithium polymer rather than lithium iron phosphate battery chemistry correct ?

There was some confusion on their web page about this but the batteries are NMC chemistry.

Its weakest point is only 200 W of solar! Why buy a bunch of small batteries if you can only charge them at the small rate!
@solarguy
@solarguy 2 жыл бұрын
200W of solar is actually pretty good for a unit this size. I'm not sure what you are comparing it to. And because of the modular design, you could have 4 energy bars and charge them with 400W of solar, for example.

Mine has two panels, which comes with Y to connect them to the Runhood. I keep it in the RV so the wife can watch TV when we are off grid and I've also used it to power the air compressor
