Most of the info here is correct for a 2007 Honda CRV, except the 14mm crowfoot wrench. My 2007 Honda CRV with original high pressure hose takes a 21mm crowfoot wrench to get it off. The replacement high pressure hose requires a 22mm crowfoot wrench. As I had a set from 10-19mm hexagonal flare nut crowfoot wrenches, I thought I was all set to tackle this project tool-wise... The 21 & 22mm crowfoot wrenches are specialties and not easy to find... Had to order them.

My Crows foot wrench wouldn't work, neither did my line wrench. It just stripped the nut. I used a regular size vice grip and clamped it as hard as possible and it broke free 1/10 of a rotation and then my crow wrench took it off the rest of the way

I just did this tonight. What helped me was to lower the exhaust by unhooking the hangers. That gave me room to snake the hard line over to the right side. Patience is key, don't bend the hard line and your reward will be a fitting that threads easily. I got the hose out underneath the car on the passenger side and that's where the new hose went in. The brackets that hold the hard line to the rack support can be removed with a 10MM socket, extensions and maybe a swivel. A stubby 10MM open end box end wrench is handy as well. Thanks for the great video!

Great video. Thank you! Don't be afraid to talk, or think it will bother us. I get the "minimalist" approach with just showing the action, but commentary is very helpful. An example would be to talk about the path that hose takes and how you get the old one out, new one in, etc. Helpful to us for whom this would be a first time deal. thanks again!

Wow. Thanks, this is just what I needed. I just finished. Did mine in the garage and only jacked up the front end. Used a small adjustable head 1/4 ratchet instead of the angled wrench. But this was pretty easy once I had all the right tools. I never had a purpose for a Crows Foot wrench before. LOL.

Just did this and this was seriously the hardest part. Total nightmare. Even lost one of the bolts. It fell right in a subframe hole in driver’s side. Luckily I found a similar bolt in the garage. If you’re doing this, block that hole with a paper towel or tape.

First, cut the line off from the rack with a cutting wheel just past the fitting... Then use a 🪣 to drain the oil. Then, use a 14mm deep socket on the fitting. It'll come right out. Then cut the line off in three places to get it out after removing the brackets. Undo the wiring loom connector and the return hose connector to gain room on the passenger side bracket. The electrical connector is tough. Install from the bottom up.

I'm afraid to bend the line. 2.Also, Do you recommend to re-install the rubber clamps that hold the hose in place? it was such a pain to remove, and i am sure it will be just as hard to re-install. 3. How efficient was the 17mm wrench to remove the sensor? I could not remove it to save my life. I'm gonna go to the store and get one tomorrow and try again.

+Robert Amaya Thanks for watching!! you don't have to take anything off really if you have a lift or its high enough on jack stands but if your limited on space then i would take off the catalytic converter. I would recommend installing those brackets back because of vibrations and there's movement on the engine (especially if your mounts are bad) and the hose can rub on stuff. Over time it'll create a hole in it. but if you can't then zip tie it(better than nothing lol) just take you time installing and to maneuver/adjust your angles. hopefully this will help

sorry no videos on that. luckily i have not come across that but have seen many other nuts and bolts stripped. have you tried some vise grips? That line nut is kinda tricky because most tools used to take off stripped nuts and bolts will not work on those nuts with a hose on them. if you have access to one of those easy out tools i would just cut the hose off close to the stripped nut and use one of those easy out tools. hopefully that helps or gives you an idea on how to get it off!!

So are you accessing the bottom of the car where the hose bolts to the rack, with the drivers front tire removed? I'm trying to figure out if it can be accessed by removing the tire or if the car needs to be up on a lift. (in otherwords can I do it or does it have to go to the shop with a lift)

You can access it with the car on jack stands and the driver tire off. Definitely take all safety precautions. It is doable but it is easier if you have a lift

Question. Did you have to remove any other parts of the car to get to the hose underneath or was it simple to get to all the bolts and take out with the tool in this video ??
@RevvedUpKnowledge
@RevvedUpKnowledge 6 жыл бұрын
To be honest it’s not simple yet not hard. If you do not lower the rear section of the subframe it can be a little tough. Space is very limited but definitely can be done. It definitely is a lot easier if you lower the subframe a little to have more room to disconnect those bolts on the bracket that holds the hose down on the frame
@_Mike_D_
@_Mike_D_ 5 жыл бұрын
I figured out the easy way to do this. There are 4 m14 bolts you can remove from under the car(rear mount). Then jack up the rear of the engine/trans slightly and the ps hose will come out from the top of the engine. It was very very easy to do this way. I was able to do this with the driver side tire removed, you can see the passage the lines pass though upen up. Only needed jackstands, jack, 12 and 14 mm socket and whatever size the line nut is. I used a 3/4 I think.

@RevvedUpKnowledge
@RevvedUpKnowledge 9 жыл бұрын
Dave H. you can possibly re-crimp it with the crimping tool. The hose gets dry and shrinks so the original crimp isn't tight enough anymore. If you don't have access to the tool than you would have to take it off the car and bring it to someone with the tool but at that point i would much rather put a new one in it.

I have a 98 Accord v6 and there's definitely not much room. I noticed when you're taking off the 10mm bolt on the passenger side of the vehicle with the ratcheting wrench, you have the hose above it out of the plastic ring. How did you get that out? We're trying to change the hose and couldn't get it out then again we couldn't get the 10mm off of the other side near the flange you used the Crow's foot on. This is definitely a pretty annoying job

It is a little tricky. What I usually do is route the hose to where it needs to be and I start by pushing the hose all the way into the rack and threading it first. That way it gives you wiggle room if you need to move the hose around to line it up straight. Hopefully your threads didn’t get messed up and it works out for you

The second issue is the Hose needing replacement has a 19mm Flare nut going into the Rack. The third is Flared nut set doesn't have a16mm nor a 19mm. Going back to Advance Auto to see the NEW replacement (second) hose is different from the first. The fifth issue is finding that 16mm, 19mm locally. sixth is whether to cut the old hose and use a 19mm Socket or box end wrench as well keep any metal shavings out of the Rack while cutting Hose. Clint Eastwood does the hose move while turning it or does it move while it hits lock/max? If it moves while turning and not locking yet then possible brackets that secure the hose to the subframe are missing. If it moves a little when it hits lock/max then pretty normal but hard to say without seeing it happen.

While I appreciate you taking the time to make a vid of you doing this job, what I really needed to see is how TF do you get the new line routed properly without bending it. BUT.... you didn't bother to show that part. I bent mine putting it in, just a little, and I got it through. But the end didn't line up with its mounting hole. I could get the end of the line into the hole, but it was crooked and I cannot get the fastener started. I gave up for tonight. It appears that I started to F'UP the treads on the fastener.

Happened to me before. Bending the lines causes the fitting not lining up..even if trying your best to bend it back. Threads get damaged..time lost. Leaking fitting, fluid lost,damaged new line. Not worth it. Someone mentioned move the exhaust for more room. Do what gotta do.

Whats the other line called thats after the power steering resevoir ?
@RevvedUpKnowledge
@RevvedUpKnowledge 6 жыл бұрын
The hoses coming out of the reservoir? If so then the smaller hose coming into the reservoir is the return hose and the one coming out of it is the suction hose. Hopefully that answers hour question. If not let me know 👍🏼

Do you have to bleed the power steering line?
@RevvedUpKnowledge
@RevvedUpKnowledge 9 жыл бұрын
EmRe Photography only thing you should do before you start the car is first of course is fill the bottle with Honda power steering fluid then with the car lifted off the ground(makes it easier but you don't have to) turn the steering wheel lock to lock between 10-15 times. After that top off the ps fluid and turn on the car. Most of the air should have gone out but if your still seeing bubbles in the reservoir then you probably have a leak in your suction line.

Some vice grips or cut the tube off (since your replacing it) and use some type of stripped nut/bolt remover

Thanks! I cut the line and used a special bolt extractor socket to get it off. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the line out without bending it!

+NewsandCheats i would do a flush first and change the orings on the p.s. pressure hose and suction hose first. Works most of the time. If it still does it then the pump is most likely the culprit

what is the hose that's in the middle of the screen at 2:42? I think it's running into the transmission pan but I could be wrong about that. Also, how similar is this to a 2002 Acura TL? Is the power steering hose setup the same?

It was not a useful video at all. When people asked you to tell them the name of the tools you used you failed horribly. The most important tool in this video was the 10mm wrench socket with an angle. You could not give the name of that tool only where you got it from. With out it people will find it hard to use this video.
