My 2001 Fright liner FL60 , with the Mercedes Benz mbe900 engine with 400,000 miles and runs like a top ,The german manufactured power steering pump was the original pump and recently the seal went bad allowing ATF fluid to contaminate my Engine oil . There are no replacement pumps available, but seal kits are available. I found your video after I had taken it somewhat apart, I think it should go back together fine, or let’s say, I hope so. Thanks so much for your videos, big time helpful!!!

It’s vey Nice to watch you here in this Video. I feel that I need some more details about 6:50 to 7:20, in which you talked about VALVE MOVEMENT. You used pressurised Air to check the movement, I was not able to assess that what kind of movement it would be. Would you please help me to understand this clip from 6:50 to 7:20. LOVE YOU…… ❤SouthPaw.❤
@SouthpawAutoworks Жыл бұрын
I see what you mean. While putting air pressure into the small hole, look into the large hole (eye protection is recommended). You'll see a small spring. When you pressurize the small hole, you'll be able to see the spring compress, and the valve will move downward. When you release air pressure, the valve will travel the other direction, and the spring will relax.

Hey Robert, Thanks for helping us understand the parts and functions of our vehicles different systems and repairing them and replacing them. I was wondering why the image of the hand is of the right hand because I'm a southpaw too and that means left handed. Is it just something overlooked or a conscious decision? If possible you could change it to the image of the left hand. I think I know why now, emoji options have only the right hand!!

Whoa...I never looked at it that way. Very interesting... I pictured the logo as a hand print, on a piece of paper. Made sense to me...but definitely want it to make sense to the viewers/subscribers. I really appreciate you bringing this to my attention, as I'm currently working with someone, having a new logo created. And the new logo is not a hand print. Just looked over the new logo, and it is the correct orientation that you speak of. Good eye!! You're right about the emojis. There's nothing for us left-handers!! haha Thanks for watching the videos. I'm happy to share my experiences. There's two (2) joys in life; Growing & Giving. Thank you for dropping me a line!

Hello Robert, Thank you for the attention to detail that you have shown in your video. After watching your previous KZbin video where you dismantled the pump, I can't wait to see the next instalment where you put it all together again. Not everyone has a wash trough like you used in this video. What are your thoughts on washing all the parts in gasoline, and blowing them clean and dry with compressed air? What advantages do you think arise from using the spray can cleaner?
@SouthpawAutoworks4 жыл бұрын
Here's Part 2....which covers the cleaning. Reassembly will be covered in Part 3....which is coming soon. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ematZX2te5WEmpI To answer your question....I've never cleaned anything with gasoline. So, I'm unable to make a comparison, or give an opinion. One of the benefits of brake parts cleaner is that it doesn't leave behind any residue. Of course, this may vary from brand to brand. I really like using this stuff. Brake Parts Cleaner (3M): amzn.to/2HxQ1Pz (paid link)

Hi. Thanks for such detail on the power steering pump rebuild. I have had to run the PS pump without fluid to get home. When i got home I filled the reservoir with correct oil but now the pump is not working.. Does this mean the pump is broken. Can it be fixed? .
@SouthpawAutoworks3 жыл бұрын
Your positive comment is appreciated. I've had to do that, too (a short distance...a few miles). Although, I was fortunate that it did not do any damage to the pump. If it were my vehicle, I'd be pulling the pump out of the vehicle, and opening it up. Without doing that, it would be hard for me to tell if the pump could be fixed.

@@SouthpawAutoworks the only difference on our pump is the sub valve, mine does not have one, will check if the sub valve was stuck on the hose, i also found out that they installed the vanes, rotor and spring on valve control in a wrong way, hoping that pump will work again, i also encountered several issues all made or done by the previous mech, your vid was so clear and precise, and love the motivational part at the end

Hi Robert, you said seen guys use soapy water to clean it. Wont it rust doing that?
@SouthpawAutoworks Жыл бұрын
Yes, it can. However, rust can be avoided. After the parts are washed/rinsed, the parts can be quickly dried by using compressed air. If those cleaned/dried parts were going to be stored for sometime (and especially if in a humid climate), coating everything with clean oil (power steering pump fluid, etc) will prevent the clean parts from rusting.

I need to rebuild a 2000 volvo s80 pump. Will this apply?
@SouthpawAutoworks4 жыл бұрын
The pump in this video is out of a '97 Honda Accord LX (V6). So it will definitely have some differences from the pump in a 2000 Volvo S80. However, all pumps (power steering, automatic transmission, etc) have commonalities. I tried to get more info on your pump, and could only find info on removing/replacing the pump....not rebuilding. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h562oX2sic6Wm80
