This geometry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into the power theorems of circles which is based on chords, secants, and tangents. It covers the chord chord power theorem, the secant tangent power theorem, and the secant secant power theorem. The chord chord power theorem states that the product of the segments of two intersecting chords are equal. The secant tangent power theorem states that the square of the tangent segment is equal to the product of the secant and the external part of the secant segment when the tangent of the circle and the secant of the circle extend from a common endpoint outside of the circle. The secant secant power theorem states the products of the secants and the external part of the secant segments are equal. This geometry video contains plenty of examples and practice problems on circle theorems.

Doing GED online through my local college and I am spending WAY more time learning through you than through their program's lessons -- which consists of no more than a 2 minute clip PER lesson. It's a shame but that shows just how awesome and thorough your teaching videos really are. I'm seriously considering dropping the online classes to study independently through channels like yours since I am getting very little out of the class as it is. I GREATLY appreciate you!

The problem at 10:28, I did it in another way. What I did, was I set x as DB. This made my equation: sqrt(9x)=12 If I were to solve this, I would get 16 as my answer. So, now we know that the length of the entire sequent line is 16. To find the length of DC we subtract 9 from 16 to get 7. Just another method.

For a•b=c•d. When they ask for the length of ab, would you add the two products or multiply them? (Say a=5 and b=3, would the length be 8 or 15?)
@luketeichert9700
@luketeichert9700 5 жыл бұрын
The total length of that segment would be 8 (you add them), but the theorem states that if you multiply them together (a*b) then they will equal the product of multiplying the two segments from the other chord together (c*d)
