Hello Arnel, Can you replace "so to speak" by basically?
@ArnelsEverydayEnglish15 күн бұрын
Great question. Yes, the meaning is similar. In terms of structure, we usually put "basically" before the noun, and "so to speak" after the description. I drive my kids around everywhere. I'm basically a taxi driver. I drive my kids around everywhere. I'm a taxi driver, so to speak. Hope this helps :)

Hlo Arnel Mam ❤❤ How r u? I hope you feel better ❤️☺️,i just wanna ask about let alone that can we use it in the beginning of the sentence?
@ArnelsEverydayEnglish16 күн бұрын
Hi Waqas! Good question. No, "let alone" is always used before the second point you are making. A: You can bake a pie for dessert. B: I don't even know how to boil and egg, let alone bake a pie. Hope this helps :)
@Power-of-your-brain14 күн бұрын
I stand to be corrected. Let alone means “not to mention”. So for example. I am not an Indigenous English speaker not to mention teach English. Now let alone: I am not an indigenous English speaker let alone teach English.

For what it's worth is it same as what matters most in meaning?
@ArnelsEverydayEnglish5 күн бұрын
That's a good question Mona. No, they are different: FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH: This is my opinion and I want to tell you, but I don't know if this will help you. WHAT MATTERS MOST: This is the most important thing. Examples: For what it's worth, I think you are doing a really good job. (This is my opinion.) What matters most in life is health and family. (These are the most important things.) I hope this helps :)
