Power Vision vs. FP3

This is a tune and sound test comparing a tune from a Dynojet Power Vision and dyno tuned map from Fuel Moto plus a K&N Ventilator filter and backplate kit vs. Vance & Hines FP3 canned map and K&N factory replacement filter. The bike is a 2020 Harley Davidson Lowrider S M8 114 with an S&S 475c cam kit installed.

FP3 makes the bike lope. It did the same to mine. Don't know how it does, it just does. Sounds like it's cammed when it isn't lol

It’s possible that you are hearing the single pin crank effect of the exhaust on the Harley V twin. A bad tune doesn’t make the bike lope it just makes it run bad which might sound a little bit like that at idle but not very enjoyable to ride. The lope that you hear is the S&S 475 cam that I had in the bike at the time I posted this. From experience I can tell you that you would be much more happy with a power vision tune. FP3 does great for stage one builds but any performance mods not so much.

@@robb907 I understand your bike is cammed, and it sounds great. I should've clarified that the FP3 made my bike specifically have a nice, lopey idle compared to the Screamin Eagle tune it had prior. It's definitely not a bad tune; the plugs are a nice golden brown color where before they were white-grey from running lean on the SE tune, and it holds idle RPM better with the FP3. The bike also has a very noticable boost to low end grunt, it'll roll right down the road smooth as butter at low RPM's that previously made the bike chug and clank with the SE tune. With the FP3 tune at idle, my tach shows RPM bounces around maybe 20rpm up or down, where with the SE tune, idle RPM was bouncing about 60rpm up or down. It's worth noting my bike is a 2020 Softail Standard with a digital tach; on an old tach with a needle, you're never gonna notice the very very slight changes in RPM; but it's perfectly normal. There's no engine on the planet that holds an exact RPM at idle lol

@@PotatoeJoe69 ah yes, good clarification. I actually liked the Bluetooth to the phone feature of the FP3 it’s a lot easier to use. I had the similar experience when I used it on my stage one 114 Fat Boy. That’s why I bought it for this one but couldn’t make it run right and learned about the power vision functionality. The low end grunt and torque that you’re talking about was also what I experienced on that bike. Screamin eagle tunes are a Harley corporate product that they castrate to save themselves some warranty claims. Sucks beans but unfortunately is the way it is. But the FTC just ordered them to honor third-party parts and services so we’ll see exactly what that spells out shortly. If they force Harley to warranty other peoples products then perhaps they’ll start making theirs better.

Thats a tough one. The first sound was a bit tingy like it sounds exactly like what the pipes look, which is pretty much a canon, but i think i liked the rev and decel on the fp3. I peraonally have the SE tuner on my dyna with S&S 583 cams, and python 2 into 2 exhaust. I like the sound of 2 pipes and definitely the phythons, its loud to others but not to me, its right at that exceptable range, cause i do have baffles in them. I personally dont want to hear deceleration, what yours and mine have in common is that the deceleration sounds like a lion pur right after the growl

What license plate mount? And what did you do to the rear fender (does it have multiple holes)

Here is the link on JP cycles. You also have to get the swing arm mount. When you order it the part number for that will pop up. As for the fender holes, there are three and I put plastic button head plugs in the holes. The Power Vision. I have yet to be able to ride this motorcycle because there’s been snow on the ground since the day I bought it, however all of the research I’ve done have yet to find someone that chose the FP3 over the power vision. Plus the way it sounds and holding the throttle between two and 3000 RPMs is an obvious difference. The FP3 sputtered and backfired horribly, while the power vision is smooth as glass. Could have probably waited and gotten an auto tune session with it but after reading everyone else’s opinions about this decided just to do it.

@@robb907 I’m kind of in the same boat. I’m getting ready to install a cam on my bike this weekend and I currently have the FP3. I have no problems with it with my current stage 1 setup. However I’ve also been seeing the FP3 might not do so good with a cam. Idk if I should wait and see how it performs or just get Power Vision now. Did you contact Vance and Hines about the tune? @@carlospenunuri9355 No I didn’t. I have a friend that does Dyno tune‘s for a living and he already tried the FP3 with a stage two cam. All I can do is just run it in the driveway for now but couldn’t hold the throttle steady below 3500 RPMs plus it was way rich and blew a lot of black smoke. All these things combined made me decide to just go ahead and change the tuner out. When the snow melts I’m going to ride a tank of gas or two, and then run the auto tune. The Fuel Moto tech told me if I had any problems after that I could send The map to them and they could tweak it. Also we have a pretty good technician here locally with a dyno. If you buy the power vision I recommend you buy it from Fuel Moto. Those guys tech-support is awesome

@@carlospenunuri9355 Same boat here, only I accidentally ordered the 465 cam. I SWEAR I clicked 475. Anyway, it came and I decided to install it. I actually LOVE it! But I have the FP3 and they do NOT have a 465 tune. They did "make" me one though, and it seems pretty good. I'm going to auto tune this week and see how it works out. One thing to note is that any tuner without a dyno will only be able to tune to 14.7:1 AFR. Dyno tune will be at 13:1 AFR.

465 is awesome. I had Vance n Hi es send me a tune for it and I havnt had a problem. It’s crazy fast. Bug difference from stock.

At the time I posted this I had a K&N ventilator kit that uses the stock faceplate. But currently I have a Arlen Ness monster sucker. I like the way it looks better plus the high flow filter doesn’t require oil and only takes a few minutes to clean.

@@canttalk ah yes, The monster sucker would be sick on a break out! I have video footage I’m editing to produce here pretty soon about my exhausts that I went through to find the best one. I ended up with a Jackpot riot pipe with the S&S 475 cam it produces the best power and torque curves and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll get that out pretty soon hopefully.
