Same exact thing, mine failed less than a year of purchasing. The company gave me an option to disable it (cutting the cord) and pay $24 for them to ship a new unit, or me paying the shipping of the failed unit ($40+ in my case) and they'd pay shipping of the new one. I was about to throw it away, was not going to invest another dollar in this, when I found this video, works again now, thank you!

This was a great video, only thing I would add please make sure you buy a switch that states "normally open" ! If you buy normally close it will only work while tray is not in fryer. So again MAKE SURE YOU BUY "NORMALLY OPEN" SWITCH. Trust me I had to reorder mine. I was not paying attention.

It works! Thanks for the video and the Amazon replacement part choice. My switch still clicked but did not work. I had to have my husband help me release the clips from the switch. He had to push on the inside of clip with the point of a needle nose pliers to release the clip. The clip had a little nub to hold it to the prong. Otherwise your instructions were spot-on!

Thank you for posting this. I have the same model as you. I just took it apart to test the switch bypass. The screws in my unit are a weird star shape and very small. It was extremely difficult to get the screwdriver to seat correctly and get these screws out. One wouldn't budge at all and I had to drill it out. Got the cover off, bypassed the switch and it came on immediately. So I just ordered the replacement switch. I might get 4 different screws since these ones were so hard to remove. The 5th screw mount point was destroyed, unfortunately. It was that or throw the whole thing in the trash.

The "screws" are not phillips or has screws but are actually T10 screws and most tool sets have a series of T bits and the T10 fit perfectly

I just read they are called TORX screws- lint of a 6 point star as opposed to a hex screw (hexagon) that needs an Allen wrench

Did you already replace the switch? Check the original switch for the letters NC or NO. NC means normally closed and NO means normally open. Then check if you got the right one for your unit.

Mine went out different model, but yeah it was the same problem. I didn’t replace it I just clean the two metal pieces that connect when you push the button in side that little box and got it working again( I use a piece of sandpaper) . Thanks you for the video it help to identify the problem.

That is a 15 amps device (likely) so we need to pay attention to the circuit it is plugged into. My wife doesn't think about these things and will plug it in with a fridge or freezer outlet. Thanks for the fix.

Yep, this solution still works. Tested the connection as shown. Ordered the switch. Good video, thanks much. My contacts on the switch were pretty tight and my pliers stripped some of the cladding on the negative one and I ripped off the termination spade of the other. Not much wire to work with so I had to solder the positive spade back on the wire and add cladding to both wires. May have been easier to remove the switch first, then pull the wires. Also, had one screw that seemed stripped; simultaneously used a ph2 bit and small hook to turn and lift it out, respectively.

This is great!! Unfortunately I couldn’t get the screws out of the bottom to get it apart. They’re not Philips-head screws. They look like rivets!!!! Power XL 7Qt. Maybe the manufacturer changed them after seeing your video!!!!

crazy, mine stopped turning off the operation when you pull out food to check it and just runs all the time until its turn off when cooking is done or timer. Mine finally one day last week started to sort of shut off when cooking and then turn back on and back off . almost as if it was doing the shut down when taking the basket out but the basket was still in and supposed to be cooking. I realized that when i shook the backet and jiggled it, it sort of seem to trigger it to work again but it was do the same thing. now it does not turn on at all. I think this is my solution. THanks for sharing!

This worked for me. Thank you! I had some arcade button switches laying around and they are almost identical so I popped one in and I'm cooking!
