Do you think it would be a good idea if Ironmaster had plates other than just the 2.5s, 5s and 22.5s? Seems like 10lbs plates would be great for 20lbs jumps and allow for less plates in general needing to be used.

@@Applefanatic1000 Maybe but then it just becomes more things to buy/store. Luckily they all stack on top of each other. I think it really comes down to how you use them. I used my Ironmasters more as an accessory after flat bench work, this meant I didn't have to do a bunch of warm up sets and change the weight out or whatever. However if you're planning on using them exclusively or for drop sets, maybe the awkward feeling of the powerblocks would be worth the much easier to adjust option they provide.

@steverapos39043 жыл бұрын
Some feedback on my experience: - Had them for almost 10 years now and no issues with durability. I have dropped them accidently but not to hard and they held up. - if you go to the 90 pound ones you can only change weights in increments of 10 pounds quickly as changing in increments of 2.5 or 5 pounds involves the adder weights and takes way longer. If you only need 50 pounds I do believe there is one that changes 5 pounds at a time. - I have the metal ones but looking back at it I think the urethane is worth the extra cost. They are a little bulkier but even more durable and quiet. - If you want to do 2 handed exercises and are doing 50 pounds or less with the 90 pound set just grab the bottom 2 handles. When you get to about 60 pounds there is probably not enough space to do this anymore. - minor downside is with low weight the handles feel odd given the added weights are on one side (10 and 20 pounds) and the dumbells center of mass shifts towards the added weights.. Again, if you use the bottom handles instead it feels better.

Hey Coop, powerblock pros have been what I've used 6 times a week since march. I have to say that you can fit dumbbell hooks into the cage for the powerblock pro elites, from there I've used multiple grip attachments (i've used a cannonball grip with 1' long strap to do heavy goblets), you can hook it up to a dip belt, and my favorite is I went to my local hardware store and bought nylon coated cable with a few pulleys and now I have an adjustable weight stack for lat pull downs and tricep extensions when hooking that up to my pull-up bar. I do wish I could have a solid bar connections on the elites but it hasn't been necessary so far.

In a perfect world, I think I'd have preferred Nuobells, but with the availability of adjustable dumbells the way it is (and is likely to be for some time), I'm just grateful I managed to snag a pair of new PowerBlock Pros last Fall. That said, I'm somewhat amused that the video is seven minutes of saying how great they are and then quickly saying that the downside is that they are awkward for both one and two-hand movements...which basically covers all the movements you use dumbells for :-D I am disappointed that they are essentially useless for goblet squats, but I've gotten used to the slight imbalance in other exercises. @Mike-ow5tz3 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend the EXP Series over the Urethane, at least based on a serious design flaw I've heard from friends who have owned and used these in a non-temperature controlled garage gym environment. Apparently those rails are not directly connected to the metal plates, at least on the old U90 sets, so the corners are solid urethane. With extreme cold/hot weather they eventually become brittle and prone to breaking. The Sport EXP's are cheaper, have the same quick pin design, and without a doubt will stand the test of time.
@BrandonSchwartz13 жыл бұрын
This 100%. The likelihood of those welds breaking versus urethane getting damaged make that set undeniably safer.

@AverageJoeInnovationsLLC3 жыл бұрын
@@ryu-ken if I recall correctly, the urethane mentioned in the class action suit is the coating on the plates peeling off. I'd have to go back and read it to confirm. However, just as Mike mentioned, any urethane/plastic is subject to the same degradation due to environmentals. Urethane is used in plate/rod joints and even the handle end caps/blocks on several models. I have the black EXP and Sport models. And I owned what is now referred to as the "classic". If anything is going to fail eventually on these it'll be the welded joints on the plates. You should be fine. Just don't go dropping the dumbbells to the mat. Those welded joints aren't going to survive repeated drops over time.

@@edddddie8972 yes but how annoying have to change the weights also they are a strange size, normal dumbells are just there ready to pickup
@samuelloification27492 жыл бұрын
@@Chris_t0 kind of misses the point of the dumbells. It's about space and money saving for a home gym set up. Clearly actual dumbells are superior if you have the space and money

@@samuelloification2749 Personally what I found by buying gimmicky stuff is, its just another hurdle to use... So not only do you have to get the power to workout... you have to get the power to workout using gimmicky trash. i dont have space for dumbells i store them under my bench, or stack them. Although they are definitely expensive when you build a collection

I don't even see the option of knurled handles on the site? 🤔

Have to go to the commercial series section of the site. It's hidden but on desktop it's at the top navigation bar.

I believe you have to go with the commercial versions to get those.

Love your videos. I have a set of the urethane pro series and absolutely love them. Now that I see the knurled handles I want those now lol. I noticed that yours don't have those adder weights that go into the handle like mine do. Also how can I get a set of those tiny ones they are so cool lol.

once you've tried dumbbells with rotating sleeves, you begin to realize how shit the ones that don't have them (which is most of then) feel/perform.

I keep hearing about knuckle scraping with powerblocks. I have "mechanics" hands, always having to work for a living. Unfortunately they have been broken a couple times in the past, making for larger knuckles. Have you had any experience with "Knuckle Scraping?
