I'm seriously digging the old school Holley 4010 carburetor. I always liked them and loved the throttle response with the annular discharge boosters.

Loved what you did with the 302! I know you said a summit cam but what summit cam? Would like to do the same up grades but hard for o do when don’t say what cam it is and no cam specs at all . Love your show just now wish you would do a better job with part numbers and specs!

If the stage 2 manifold was to much for the stock cam why not keep the stage 2 manifold and swap the cam for the summit racing one.

Where is there a 400 hp v6 grocery getter? Also, the number of cylinders has nothing to do directly with power lol. But yeah technology has made power numbers a little out of control. In reality, most people can't even drive a 96 Honda Civic to redline on anything but a straight line.

Disconnect the positive before the negative? Is that a positive earth car? I was taught in trade school to remove the terminal that WON'T arc out on the frame first.

Which is why you disconnect the positive first. It’s not going to arc if it touches metal if it’s unhooked. The negative will though if you disconnect that first because the positive is still connected.

The E7 is adequate until 4000ish RPM with most street friendly cams. For a summer cruiser with a stock automatic that's fine. This is a budget build and aluminum heads can cost over $1000 very easily.

My question is about emissions. Living in California sucks. But having a 77 f150 w/302 I’m curious how much it will increase or decrease emissions. I have a federal vehicle so no cats or emission equipment needed. Just takes the sniffer test. I think that would be a good series. What mods can you make with out going to far and then can’t smog it

an intake and carb swap will probably make less pollution due to better fuel distribution in the runners and no fuel puddling like the low rise stocker. a modern cam profile can actually make less too. modern factory grinds are way more aggressive than old muscle car era grinds. you want a mild cam with no overlap. i'd recommend a comp xtreme 4x4 250H but with a set of isky flat tappet hydraulic lifters because comp's lifters aren't made the same way any more and iskys are. some tri-y headers with an xpipe with the same manifold and rockers as here and you'll be set.

@@rickycortez6733 with flat tappet cams and modern oils, make sure you use an oil with a zinc (zddp) additive. it's terrible for cats so they took it out over the years but it cuts down on friction from any non roller valvetrain. any zinc added full synthetic is gonna be fine.

Man getting old sucks. Got a 351W out of a truck in 1994. Rebuilt with ported and polished stock heads I was into it for about 1,300-1500. I have old receipts for the machine shop, but they have faded. I remember it was so cheap back then lol 😆 The good old days. Even alloy heads were cheap then too

probably wouldn't do much with the stock heads. Cam swap helped a bit but its so restricted at the heads.

I think I would have put pistons in for more compression, dressed the heads a little.. matched the ports.. these are labor intensive but on a budget, that’s cheap!

There's as much easier way to prime. Assemble and disconnect the ignition coil wire. Then, simply crank the engine for a few....

Wasn't horse power measured differently in 1970? Because in 1974 the same exact engine had 135 hp stock? His modern dyno im sure measures in the newer method, so the starting point would be about 135hp actual?

Starting in 72 they changed to net hp . That's all hooked up to all accessories in the car . Engines also lost some power with smog regulations, lower compression etc . 1970 was around peak power . Power really dropped off especially after 74 .

I got a 351 Windsor having trouble finding the distributor to go in it with the GT40 heads using a 97 Ford f250 fuel injected intake it was formerly a marine engine but the shaft that drives the oil pump is larger than the one out of the mustang that we're putting the motor in anybody I need suggestions on where to find a distributor for this engine

That reman 302 probably had lower compression pistons, and those iron heads don't flow. Best upgrade would be Dart or Trick Flow heads.

Its amazing people actually make power with those stock heads, horrible ports. Then again, not everybody needs 600 na hp out of a small block. This would be a fun reliable set up.

I don't think a stock 302 block would hold 600 HP for very long anyway. Better step up to a 351 or get a good aftermarket 302 block for that kind of HP.

More cam and rocker ratio on stock springs. If you yad used a 5.0 HO roller cam long block the cam price difference would have been offset by reused lifters and it already being a double roller chain. Rockers? There are some good 1.7 roller tips out there for reasonable price. JMO

That's way too many steps for an oil priming tool. Just find the right sized deep socket and weld it to a long quarter inch drive extension.
