I thought I had seen all your videos, almost missed this series. I'm glad you didn't give up on that inverter I learned a lot. Thanks again for all your time and effort. And my Tiger Claw is still working great! (I am going to get a samlex 3000 when I can put back some extra cash)

I have nothing but good things to say about the Samlex 3000. I'm glad I didn't give up too! This ended up being a very nice inverter - it's one of the ones I've kept. Thanks for watching!

I’ve watched countless YT vids, as I prepare to make a purchase. Your vids are Tops. Your explanations are technical, yet you articulate them where a Novice can understand (most) of it. I really appreciate it. I’m in the final stages of pre-purchase research, and wish that I could get a clear one or two unit recommendation. I TRUST you, and that doesn’t come easy. That being said, you make clear some of your more (preferred) units ... TigerClaw, Samlex, PowerBright .... I THINK that I need about 2000W continuous capability 120VAC, for my single battery Jeep (which is my ‘home’). I need Safe, Best Bang For the Buck, $400 or LESS, and Capable. Some of the challenges have been chassis size, fear of needing out-of-box repairs (as you’ve encountered), .... this one isn’t suitable in vibration environs. If I watch ALL of your vids, is there a CLEAR couple of winners in (My) ‘category’ ? I’m fearful of needing to repair Chinese build quality straight outta the box .... Thoughts ...... ?

I failed to specify my ANTICIPATED usage: 1800W (supposed) Induction cooktop, an “average” coffee maker, a 1400W (?) Electric Kettle, maybe a blender ..... POSSIBLY a Toaster Oven or SMALL microwave. Thank You again, for GR8 Vids !

I am looking for a 2000W-5000W inverter this video has helped me a lot, im considering buying a powerbright but not sure yet, BIG thing is the price, i need it cheap but I dont want junk, Gunna keep looking up reviews and see what the best bang for the buck is.
@knurlgnar2410 жыл бұрын
Powerbright seems to have decent mid-range stuff. They're not top notch but not junk either. A good value overall.

Really cool series - Have you done any work showing 24V models? It would be valuable to see how they perform

It does sound like a camera RFI issue, but the inverter is actually making the buzzing noise heard on camera. It seems to come from the output choke. Possibly the missing capacitor inside the inverter would reduce the noise but it isn't really objectionable to me considering that the fans only turn on under fairly heavy loads.

It's on my list. Sorry for the long wait, I just haven't figured out how to present it yet!
@vincentrobinette15075 жыл бұрын
for surge current, you need to read the output current. The voltage droops, to increase the output current, without increasing the load on the DC booster stage. The output is indeed pulse width modulated, meaning, it will multiply current, by reducing voltage, by reducing how much the duty cycle varies from 50/50. You are right, the surge wattage won't change, but the output surge current goes up proportionately to the voltage sag. You're right not to like that for starting induction motors, because the available locked rotor shaft torque goes down on the square of the voltage drop. a 20% drop in voltage results in a 44% drop in shaft torque, which means it won't start the same load as if the voltage held up.

RFI is 'black magic' to most design engineers and requires a very controlled environment and rather sophisticated equipment to objectively analyze. Connecting the case and GND prong may reduce emissions at some frequencies and make others much worse. I've considered taking an inverter to a facility I have access to in order to accurately measure emissions, but not many people care and I probably am not technically supposed to do so.

I have a Power Bright 2200 Aps. Was in the closet but worked ok last time used. Today it started going into overload mode, red led. Source voltage is not high 12.5 to 13 volts. Removed top section of heat sinks to inspect, no obvious damage. Caps aren't bulging or leaking, transistors look ok. do you do repair work on the side ?

my fridge has 600 watts start up surge then 120 run then 108 run, but wont restart unless the doors are open for 30 minutes, also if it locks (trick the switches to come on during rotor lock) it uses 450 watts but instead of .5 seconds its like 2 minutes and it wont restart, have not tried 240 to it but dont want to either

Hi can you get a Tiger Claw inverter that can run on items in UK has you know we use 230.240 volts or can you tell me best inverter I could buy for my 600 watt solar set up all the ones had from eBay just stop working and lot don't work at all in UK they say will run 230 but all 110 can you help me out thanks by way your video's A 1
@knurlgnar2410 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen many 230/240V models because I live in a place where 120V models are more common. eBay brands are ones to stay away from, generally. I am sure there are good ones out there for 240V applications but I couldn't give an opinion based on experience here. Any company that makes good 120V inverters will likely make good 240V ones, however.
@genemayne157710 жыл бұрын
hi thanks for your reply .I have seen almost all your video's and I asked because of your experience with inverters and you know hell lot more than I ever will and the makers

Hi may I ask who were the maker's of Tiger Claw inverter on line cant find .
@knurlgnar2410 жыл бұрын
gene mayne It's one of those no-name inverters that are usually junk but the Tiger Claw is pretty good. (assuming they didn't make significant changes to the design since I purchased mine). You can find it on eBay or Amazon. I think Sigler Music also carried them according to Xboxer1985. They were out of stock for a while but I see they are available again. I don't believe they have a 240V version however.
@genemayne157710 жыл бұрын
thanks for reply all makers I tried today no 230/240 made and yet they say sell world wide odd .On one of your videos you showed 15 inverters and named them I still waiting reply off them Amazon all they selling are for car's or 110 don't have lot for UK market eBay having lots problems lost ID'S been stolen so cant buy anything . I think the market is open for some one like yourself .

Hey awesome videos, you sound extremely knowledgeable. Do you have any contact info (email, etc.) that you are comfortable giving for a couple questions about inverters? Doing a camper conversion and I wanted to make the proper investment the first time and for the right price. Thanks gnar. -Stevie

This is a modified sine wave inverter, not the best thing for a lot of electronics.
@DDA40Xman6 жыл бұрын
It's a pure sine wave inverter. He demonstrated that in earlier videos of this series, plus he restated that at 4:20 in this video.
