The 6000 lb. labelled version of this product is actually an improved version of the one reviewed here. Yes, they both are rated to the same weight capacity (3 tons = 6000 lbs.), but the 6000 lb. unit has more adjustment holes and also has a flat, cast iron area above the ram that is obviously more reinforced. I have two of the 6000 lb. units and they are working very well for me so far, no complaints. The little ball in the pin has not given me any problem, likely they have sourced the pin from someone else now. If anyone decides to purchase this product, make sure you get the grey 6000 lb. units with the five adjustment holes, not the black one shown here with the three adjustment holes. Here's a tip: a little silicon grease on the ratchet teeth and the locking safety catch goes a long way to ensure that the safety catch engages on each ratchet tooth automatically as the jack is raised. Make sure the safety catch is completely engaged so that the full weight of the car is on the jack stand and not on the hydraulic jack before you put any body parts under the car.

I would say as standard practice, that you should relieve the pressure from the jack to ensure that everything is engaged correctly before putting yourself under the car - with ANY type of jack.

this type of stand is optimum for vehicles where the lifting point is where the jackstand should go or the jack is partially in the way of where you want to put the stand .

I believe the main intended use for this is to change a flat, not replace a normal jack stand. It sure looks safer than a wobbly scissor jack that’s used for most cars and tracks

Perhaps not all, but many advertised load ratings of jack stands are per pair. So, be sure to check, and if so, divide by 2 to determine rating of each stand.

Just bought mine, tested it on my Tahoe just to see how it does, and my only issue with it is that with a jack and jack stand, you lower the jack so it sits on the stand, and then you raise it back up to get it off the stand before setting tires back on the ground. With this all in one, it's great, but when you get the tires down on the ground, the weight of the vehicle isn't going to lower the jack down enough to actually pull it out so you have to push/pull it down the rest of the way. Not a big deal, but I can see it being an issue for people if they place and lift in a spot that's hard for them to get back down.

To tall

I have been debating making a set of these, out of a set of jack stands I have. I have some specific mods I want. Top of the list is taller. I have a very lifted truck. second, more stability with a bigger base plate. probably a whole lot more reinforcement, plus a stronger jack. still looking for other ideas.

These are great for limited workspace where a floor jack isn’t practical. They’re too tall for the minivan so I just made a pair of low profile ramps out of some scrap lumber. I back the van up on the ramps and then use these at the jack points. Can’t complain, they work great.

I got 2 of the 2ton /4000lb combo . And I also have mixed emotions on them. I think the company should have made them a little thicker than 1/8th And the 4000 lb ones have a very small jack stand . They are smaller in height compared to the 3 ton ones you have But height is not what the issue is because they are versatile in height . The issue is that they should have made a stockier design that would suit the name POWERbuilt! More bulk would have been more mentally reassuring when your body is under the car, especially when they are asking so much money for them.. The funny part is the 2 ton I have dont fit under a small car at all . They fit under my 15 CRV with 2 inches of clearance aswell But the CRV really towers over the 2tons to the point it looks dangerous LMAO

The grim truth is, floor jacks have wheels for a reason - so they can move a little as the vehicle is jacked up. When you jack up a vehicle the center of lift moves slightly. Jack stands are for resting on, not lifting. It would be easy to have these resting in a slightly unstable position after jacking up, but wouldn't be as bad as a scissor jack.
@ChadMyers734 жыл бұрын
Very true thanks for watching!
@dajur1 Жыл бұрын
The wheels of a floor jack are there because the jack raises in an arc motion, so the jack needs to move to accomodate. Bottle jacks lift straight up, so they don't need to move at all. The arc of the car lifting is too small to really make a difference in the center of gravity of a bottle jack.

I get it but I'd trust this Jack before a scissor Jack anyday...

Wheelbase and lifting height affect the alignment of how much the vehicle moves. My Jeep Wrangler JK 2door has a lot of geometry change when I lift it, front or rear.

unless you have a jacked up high 4x4 You still have to use a floor jack to jack the vehicle up to get the jack stand under it so whats really good about having a jack on the stand if it want fit under the vehicle without having to use a Floor Jack !!
