Third party batteries in a DSLR/Mirrorless? OK. Third party batteries in something that flies? Not a good idea.

I’d plug it into my charging hub and let it refresh my DJI batteries in between flights👍🙂 I’ve used their batteries on my Nikon Z5 and 6 now for several years with no issues whatsoever

Does the drone detect that it is a heavier battery and activate the RID?

I’m pretty sure it’s the small computer chip inside the battery. If you have a 4 pro and use the 250g mini 4 pro battery it won’t transmit rid. But if you use the smaller 250g mini 3 pro battery it will transmit rid. And of course the plus battery’s transmit rid. If you have a android phone or one that’s not an iPhone you can use the drone scanner app to see

So if you don’t want to transmit rid you need to use the mini 4 pro with the 250g mini 4 pro battery..

Comment and question. First, per US regs you're not allowed to fly more than 1 drone simultaneously. Just be careful. My question is related to Remote ID. At least in the M4P, the drone only transmits RID when using the Plus battery, it doesn't transmit when using the Standard battery. What does this aftermarket battery do with regards to RID? Guessing the M4P wouldn't recognize this and not transmit RID with the larger battery. This would be a problem in the US since you are required to transmit RID when over 250 grams. If this doesn't then you'd have to purchase an external RID module which would offset any cost savings.

It's in his backyard, few feet from the ground, stationary into position. No harm done.

@@yoshy2628We don't get to determine when an activity is considered safe. Per regs you are NOT ALLOWED to pilot more than one UAS simultaneously without a waiver. We may not like nor agree with the law but it is what it is. And if caught you could lose your Part 107 certification. Not worth it.
