No valves on combined feed and vent! Assuming you know that but just incase. Microbore should be banned!

I have connected my pump to the valve before and pressurised the blockage until it clears. A very old youtuber called 'tomplum' did it on one of his videos.

Yes I've seen this method before too. But I don't know if it would have worked on this particular one. Hate microbore anyway so was glad to cut it out completely!

Nice video, I've got a question as I'm not an expert, instead of taking the radiator off and doing what you did wouldn't it have been easier to point that imaging camera at the radiator pipework to see if heat was flowing to the radiator
@cputilitysolutions2 жыл бұрын
I did that at first and was getting the same result, so before I did start cutting into the pipework I wanted to be 100% sure the radiator itself wasn't causing any issues too and this way I knew for sure it had to be the pipework

Why didn't you connect the flush to the trv and locks locksheild. Back and forwards action 👌🏼. 10mm and below is a c%#t though.

I had everything else shut and was using FX2 as well and it still wouldn't shift it. Only option was to re-pipe that section

Great video how do you factor that into your price ?

Thanks man, I explained to the customer whilst at the job that this is what I need to do and this what it will cost

Hello, great video! Had a question about the difference between sludge and the black water that comes out. I attempted a magnacleanse flush through an old open vent (microbore system). All water came out same colour as coke but the magnets caught nothing. What is this water? And how does it form? Is it still sludge but a weak form of ferrous oxide? Let me know thanks.

Bacterial growth, open vent allows oxygen in to the system water. You can use biocide and flush system with clean water, then add inhibitor. Best of converting to use a filling loop and remove open vent.

@@psi10001 so bacterial growth causes water discoloration? Even if the majority of the run is in plastic pipes... does this water block and form inside a radiator (same way as sludge)? Because I have never heard of bacterial growth being that potent to change the water colour and viscosity! BTW thanks for answer psimpson747!

@Sharaz Ali-Tabassam all ferrous oxide is magnetic, you can drain some of your coke coloured water in to a clear plastic water bottle and hold a magnet to it to check. If the system water is not clear, your only non-magnetic options that colour the water are bacterial growth, inhibitor or system cleaner. You can get Fernox to lab test the system water, or try the test strips and a TDS meter.

@@psi10001 thanks for the reply. I know ferrous oxide is rust. I am aware of that. I also did catch the water and test but no luck (got nothing on magnets). The black water was non magnetic. But I just can't figure out what it is (as the magnacleanse magnets caught nothing at all). If I check on sticks sure it might have been more acidic or alkaline. If it was acidic, this would eat at the rads and create ferrous oxide (rust). Thus causing atleast some magnetites to be caught by magnets as it is pressed steel. It's been bugging me ever since I have done the job, what was that water? How does it form? As I myself cannot explain to the customers the whats, whys or hows.

Also how do I check for bacterial growth? What testing methods are out there? Tds sticks i'm pretty sure tests for water hardness which is more alkaline. Would this change viscosity of water? If so, how? Thanks.

Probably blew all the rads off the wall if it's piped in 10mm
