Lawbringer in the offhand was a game changer for my frenzy barb and I still use it even now that I have a Grief main hand. The survivability in chaos and to a lesser extent worldstone, and high decrep proc chance greatly offsets the annoying knockback. I only take it off when doing Ubers. Lawbringer is cheaper than Oath too.

i loved in pd2, where act 5 barb has might aura. Put on lawbringer and was nuts. Loved it. I also used here in my barb, when i was poor as fuck, Oath(balrog eth) and lawbringer (phase blade)

if you like to hork oath offhand with grief main i find much better as long as merc has reapers. lawbringer RIPs corpses at times and also cld dmg shatters them. i go Grief PB main and Oath BB offhand

It's a great budget option for farming Nihlatak as well thanks to the rest in peace-mod. I use it on my conviction-zealot paired with an a5 merc also wielding a lawbringer

Great vid. I love the part where you talked about gear choices with belt/rings etc. That's a part of D2 that is so much fun to me. You rarely have the perfect gear available so you make do with what you have and experiment with different parts to see how you can cover all the bases like leech attack rating, resistances... I really think D2 has the best itemization of any game! Even with budget stuff like angelic you can make a char that works.

Great build guide, i would also highly recommend Eth Small Crescents for an Oath base, they are a fairly common item type and always get 4 sox from Larzuk.

Very well rounded budget setup. I usually put my first Oaths into balrog blades for the ease of getting the base, and you also don't need to respec when you eventually upgrade to Grief that way (and there is no dual mastery issue when you can only afford 1 Gried and 1 Oath). I do random untwinked barb playthroughs sometimes, and I especially love 2 handed sword bases for Oath, as that weapon is leaps and bounds ahead of anything else you can get at that point, and you can play Whirlwind with a single 2 handed Oath and withat that and LOH, you have a potent Trav farmer to upgrade to Grief. On single player it's not too hard to rack an eth sword base.

love these budget builds oriented around level 84-ish - seeing quick and easy to get/reach goals excites for prospects for trying those builds w/o heavy investment (time or resource wise). *1 point of feedback:* Please hover over Str/Dex so we can actually see the base that you have invested for reference. Everyone always says "enough for gear" but the whole reason i come to a guide is for reference and knowing how much base you work with can give a solid minimum to work off of - since everything else always goes into Vita, I would just like to request a quick1 sec hover over the Str & Dex Words in your stat display so we it can show the Base investment. Please & Thank you!

Arreat's face is pretty cheap and would solve a lot of problems, notably the need to put so many points in natural resist and the need for a dual leech ring. Then you can take all the skill points you save and put those points into item find, switch the BO sticks for Ali-babas, and there you have it - a fully functional budget item find barm.

I think rav/soe is probably a better belt/ring combo, I think the additional dr% outweighs the mana leech for a simple budget melee build. Frenzy costs like 2-3 mana, low enough that natural regen takes care of it. An occasional pot for a mana burn mob seems worth it to me.

When I think about a Budget gear I like to think in a Solo playthrough with the character and the bases you showed and runes are just not easy to get as solo barb... It is budget but not a smooth play to a barb, so maybe using the lawbringer and make things happen would be mote budget oriented.

obedience elite pole arm, angelic ring and amulet, mandald heal, rock stopper or dusk deep with ort, trechery, death glove and belt, goblin toes or gores. mal is hard to get sometimes eth beserker axes are impossible to find. the obedience barb can run the pit and ancient tunnels good. its hard vs andy but once you gear up youll be fine.

Another option for mana leech is to use Gorefoot for the boots. This would free up the ring to allow for dual Angelic rings or the Ravenfrost + String of Ears combo.

Great budget Build! Another budget option might be Death Cleaver (offhand) paired with Oath in an eth ettin axe (for the highest base dmg). Not the fastest ias even with frenzy but relatively easy to farm by yourself. Did Ubers with that combo and few other key items (angelics, treachery, duress, gface, dracs, wisp) for the first time yesterday.

If you use treachery with death cleaver as a primary weapon left hand you should be alright. Plus small crescent is a lot easier to get as a base for oath with almost identical base damage.

Highlords, ravenfrost, demonlimb on switch. You can use wilhelms pride belt if u need leech, but there is alot of rare belts great for baba. If u find a 5os runemaster u can make an awesome weapon and skip ravens

On my Barb atm I'm doing a double-swing build literally because Frenzy is broken with controller, or at least on consoles. Basically, atm, it wont 'move' to a target. So you can be surrounded by enemies and 'attacking' but you wont be hittnig/targetting any of them like with other melee abilities. Think theres 1-2 other melee skills that're screwed up like that too. Damn bummer. Only saving grace with Double Swing is it's less point investment (if your fine stopping at no mana cost) + no mana? So mana leechs don't stop the blender, much, much weaker blender. It's just a weird feeling having double swing out dmg frenzy due to the current bug. Just, flailing at the wind even though the enemies are with in range of your attacks is bizarre.

I play a Fury Druid with controller and it's fine. If you press Fury and enemies are within range (even if behind you) you turn and hit them. If they are out of range, and you are holding the stick in that direction with Fury button pressed down, you close the distance automatuically and attack.

@@ghostlightx9005 Yup fury works fine, zeal works fine, most melee skills do. I was specifically talking about Frenzy though, on the barb. I think the other broken one might be Berserk? I know there's at least 1 other broken melee skill besides Frenzy, I just can't remember which one it is. As an aside one thing I like about Fury in resurrected is it alternates between attack animations unlike the old graphics. Kind of wish they had done more stuff like that for the other skills. In D2 A1 and A2 are used (for base attack) depending on enemy type. Small, Flying or 'normal/large'. Normal/large you alternate the animation, small I think it always uses A2, and flying is always A1 (could have that swapped). But you know most attacks pick A1 or A2 and just 'do it on repeat'. Was nice to see Fury actually alternate.

Upped head striker with a shael rune is a nice semi-budget weapon. If it were just a little bit faster it would be even better.

range 1, so no thank you. A better option would be Lightsabres, if you want budget uniques(Low damage, but very fast and good vs PI). Or upped shaeld butcher's pupil, which has range 2 at least.

Eth Small Cresent is also a nice budget option. Nice damage at the cost of 1 frame compared to cryptic sword and can be found as early as NM Cows, if you struggle to farm efficiently in SP. Eth Balrogblade is also very cost efficient, since you can use them one handed as a frenzy aswell as two handed on a whirlwind, if you so choose. Both bases get natural 4 sockets at Larzuk of course. Just don't use a conquest sword, range 1 is kind of bad. 4 soc eth Berserker axe is for the rich kids, haha. You might aswell buy a low rolled grief for the cost of that base.

I struggle playing him on controller (PS5). if you're not close enough to the enemy he sits there swinging and not hitting anything, and then if you already have frenzy proc'd you may run too far or stop too soon. He's still fun, just takes getting used to IMO (have never played one on PC back in the day)

He has an older video before D2R for Wolf Barb. But im been running one currently and can share some on my experiences. For weapons I run: Grief PB (35+% IAS) in Mainhand // Azurewrath (socketed with a Shael in it to reach over 35% ias) in Offhand ONLY** IAS from weapons applies to Werewolf forms attack frames. so you want to reach 35% from weapon Wolf Barb is in a weird position where the offhand is almost a stat stick, as you never swing with it in werewolf form. But from what I understand you still want it to be of a high enough attack speed so you don't mess up and lower your attack speed calculation (that's why I have a Shael in my Azurewrath). You really really don't want to run a shield to get locked into crappy block animations, such as if you are swarmed by little monsters. Also, the Wolf Barb is really really tanky as is ( 14k defense 6k+ life ). Yes, I'm using a Grief PB, but As Mr.Dbrunski states and has advocated, Oath would make a fine and budget mainhand weapon. I like Azurewrath in the offhand as it at least offers +1 to all skills and +5-10 to attributes, its fast (to help equalize the attack speed calculation) and the Sanctuary Aura is actually sooo nice. Sanctuary allows the Wolf Barbs only attack, Feral Rage, to Leech from Undead! This has made Hell Chaos runs a breeze. From there just use pretty standard melee character gear and get yourself resists and a little mana leech somewhere. And a Wolfhowl helm, of course. Oh, and Wolf Barb feels almost invincible and can Uber btw. Only downside is you have to single target. But you scoot around the screen quick almost like a Frenzy Barb. Hope this helped

Yeah the problem is, double swing works AMAZING on a controller: the barb would actively approach enemies that are close by, yet a bit far away for the attack, but when it comes to frenzy, for some reason the approach mechanics is not present and you can literally swing air in front of the monster for some time before you realize that you should come closer to be able to hit them. So sad, barb on a controller plays amazing.

I've noticed if you use gear that makes the enemies flee ( like Rattlecage) and you use frenzy while they run away, it will literally teleport you. It doesn't happen everytime, but it does happen. And it's supper annoying.

You can use Death set belt and gloves for CBF and LL and use duo angelic ring+amu for better AR. Its cheaper and much easier to find on normal 😂

Maybe it is just my luck, but 4 oc eth elite one handed weapons never drop for me, but multiple 5 oc phase blades. Same goes for mal and pul runes. I have a few but they are needed for upping weapon, CTA an so on. While whenever I find a Lo rune, I can make a Grief, since it has no other useful use. (I am a treachery guy not Fortitude). At this point, I never made an Oath but multiple Griefs, and there is a chance that this status stays that way.

Oaths are not cheap .. cheaper than grief of course , but not cheap at all .specially if you take into acount the base used.. for extra cheapness you go dual highlandblades . Other cheap options are upped butcherspupil or lawbringer on the offhand . Imo Lionheart > trachery (Also cheaper) and goblin toes are a Nice option to goreriders .

Is this even a "low budget build"? 4 Runewords (x2 Lum, x2 Lem, x2 Pul, x2 Mal), standard melee class best-in-slot Gface + Gore Riders + Laying of Hands. x2 Gface actually. Elite set Gloves + Belt. Elite Unique best-in-slot merc weapon... Honestly really doesn't smell "low budget build" to me.. Still a good, non-top-tier-endgame build tho, just not low-budget.

I love melee builds especially zealots and frenzy barbs. But god damn it sucks being decked out in 10+ HRs of gear and seeing my casual friend with run of the mill gear just shred the screen with his FoH pally while i've killed a grand total of 6 monsters lol.

I have a Frenzy barb on Xbox and the skill is absolute shit. It bugs a lot and goes into insane fast swing mode but can't hit, it also will not force move like double swing does. So until they fix it it is better to put one point into double swing and max something else.

Certainly this is budget compared to a lot of builds but what I'd love to see is some builds for brand new people with nothing. Like I've taken 2 characters all the way through Hell now in D2R and I still don't have the runes to make those two Oath runewords, so they aren't THAT budget. Obviously they're way more attainable than like Grief runewords but what kind of build should a new player go for when they're starting with nothing?

I do like your videos, but I don't agree that dual ethereal berserker axes are a budget option. I don't recommend anyone to start frenzy Barbarian until you find a Lo rune and a Phase Blade with 5 sockets. Phase Blades will be the best option because you don't need to repair them. Once you have the Lo rune and the 5 sockets Phase Blade make the Grief runeword. Then you can pair it with either Crescent Moon runeword (best combo for Travincal) or Azurewrath for Chaos Sanctuary runs (or farm spots with a lots of undead). Lightsabre socketed with Amn will also be helpful. A honorable mention to Voice of Reason runeword, which can also be helpful in many areas of the game (Ancient Tunnels). Make sure to put a point into Taunt. It will allow you to aggro individual council members (not bosses) and deal with them before rushing in. Also extremely useful to bring archers closer or any other monster that likes to run away. Finally, you really only need 9 points in double swing so it doesn't cost mana. Further points have diminishing returns for attack ratting. I strongly recommend to invest in Find Item skill. If you don't have Reaper's Toll Thresher for your mercenary, make sure you put at least 1 point in Battle Cry.

Melee builds are actually better on controller in many situations. It will just hit something in the general direction you aim at so there are never missclicks or anything. Movement is more responsive, more fluid and more controlled. Looting is also faster (if you go omnomnom on bosses). Perfect for levelling melee characters. For endgame and sniping certain elites it can be more frustrating, but levelling melee character is a very relaxed and layed back thing to do with a controller. Absolutely recommend 10/10 works with chill gaming.

This is a great build for high end game. My frenzy barb is 92 and u want both frenzy and berserk for immunes. U wouldn't put the 10 points into resistance instead put points into shout. And I also have 1 into WW for escaping crowds

I am wondering why he don't uses double swing between berserk with that attackspeed he will skip so many animations. The attackspeed of frenzy is just crap.

1. Dont make melee charakter without a Grief. Grief was added to a game for a reason. And for a reason its better than anything else(raw dmg) And for "budget" price compared to other usable options. 2. Someppl mentioned that LAWBRINGER. Pair that with grief And Just farm CS like a mad man(if you enjoy playing barb). Its arguably better than dual grief. Sanc aura nullifies physical resistance of monster.. Meaning on ghosts you have double dmg with your mainhand grief Just by having lawbringer equiped(they have 50 PDR) And 50% dmg morewith MH grief on knights(they have 33 i think). No Sanc aura efekt on Balrogd but man, that knockback on Knights its actually amazing And you feel really safe. You can use insight on merc.. Insight actually have really good damage on merc bcs of the passive crit strike the mana regen is awesome in CS. obviously azurewrath +ereapers is better but if i have enigma And reapers i personally like WW more. Tldr : farm grief Kids, stop wasting time theorycrafting and farming runes And bases for suboptimal weapons. Use the time to farm Grief.! And this video is still kinda rigged because the ITD And - target Def on grief is a thing And the LVL helps you quite a bit with hit :) you cant Down scale that.
