You’re not alone brother. That song tears me up on almost every time I hear it. I’m probably on listen number thirty, and it still gets me. The line “somewhere the atoms stopped fusing” always gets me. I k ow what you mean about altering the brain chemistry. It’s just real. It gives us something to sink our teeth into. It questions our expectations, I’ve found myself having hesitations in accepting I like something by them because it was different. But as a musician, I find them unpredictable, visceral, genuine, interesting, and not afraid to make something beautiful with a veneer of darkness. There is so much contrast. Even the visual performance is jarring for some, it makes you have to leave expectations behind. Also if you do ever venture to look into their background the arc of progress, evolution, almost metamorphism is amazing.

The line about being tangled up is in reference to Quantum Engtanglement, two particals being connected regardless of distance. Essentially that by the very nature of things, nothing he says will ever matter to her.

Sleep token surprisingly enough matured me in a way I didn't know I could be matured. It took a while but after about 6 months they his music healed me. I love everything he does. Because of this music, I'm not just alive, I'm living. I'm prospering. I'm me again. I wouldn't be where I am without vessel, especially his third album. He's the reason I still breathe air and I can't thank him enough for it

Sleep Token truly is something special! Vessel is a poetic genius… Really glad to see the music affects you the way it does the rest of us…it just scratches every itch! And the fact that it’s so relatable, and you can take each song and interpret it as you need…I don’t really have the proper words to explain what this band has done for me…I’m already and extremely emotional person and music speaks to me very deeply. I suppose I just finally found a band that matches my feelings and emotions more than any other! They’re really good at painting such a vivid picture as well! I mentioned when you started this journey that Sleep Token does things to my mental and emotional wellbeing that I don't know how to describe. I think you're starting to understand that now and I'm so glad for you! Not sure if you noticed but you are understanding the lyrics more, which is half the battle. So there is a KZbin video out there that has ST playing for a small gathering of people (which filled the place) and he sings a handful of songs their more emotional songs on piano with the vesselettes in the background. And to your last question -what sleep token does for me : it's helped me process a lot of relationship grief and let go of some really toxic dynamics in my life. What vessel has written is beautiful and relatable, and that has made me step back and realize how much of a pedestal I've put partners on, and inversely how much I've let myself be feasted on by them. It's helped me reformat my own boundaries with love and affection, and begin to seek more life giving dynamics. Low key, he changed my life, got me back into therapy, and helped me move on, by showing that apocalyptic love isn't sustainable.

I still tear up every time i hear this one. This is the first song i ever heard of theirs, 3 years ago. I think they're effecting you the same way they do me and a lot of other people. It's a pretty amazing song isn't it? Whether it's the album or the "From The Room Below" version, they're both fab. I do love the FTRB version though as it feels a lot more powerful and raw without any backing instruments, like stripping it back to just Vessel's voice and piano gave it a hell of a lot more power *because* it's stripped back. And yes, I know what you mean too when you said that you felt like they had taken your life (I'm paraphrasing here btw), set it to music and put it on display for everyone to see. I think that there's one band or vocalist that comes along in a generation and they are an unstoppable force. For the current generation it's Sleep Token.

❤ make sure you look up the deluxe album covers. They have a total of like 49 songs out there I think. Some covers some originals but all amazing. I feel that sleep token has helped me with my mental and emotional state 😭 it sounds cheesy but It's true. Also if you want a heavier female version of sleep token, look at Gore. They're amazing.

It's good you did the original version first, makes you appreciate the stripped down version more. I find ST stuff require context to be even more appreciated ☺️ "and the heavens just won't open up for MEEEE" hits me, even though i'm in a good place right now. It's the way he delivers it i think, that makes me feel sad for people who just don't get any break (in relationships, in career, in life in general). Sounds like the not so fave son/daughter knocking at their parent's door, asking for a favor that would be given to one of the siblings but not ME. Lol that was far from what Vess was singing about, but it's what i see when i hear him sing that part. And of course the it doesn't matter part..to be dismissed by people you care about..i think i've gotten more experience with this in general, which may be why i have the "oh well, ok then whatever" attitude in general now..

I think the tangled in what I never said is partially a play on the quantum pattern line, referencing quantum entanglement. Vessel is saying they are stuck in this quantum entanglement (feelings for someone but not being able to be close to them - affecting each other at a distance) because of the words he never said, perhaps when they were last together? Anyway, that's my take on it.

I usually stick to heavy metal and metalcore, although i do listen to most genres, but i feel that Sleep Token are perfect for people like me with eclectic music tastes because they do a little of everything but to perfection.
