I was in a halfway house for opiate addiction when this song was on heavy MTV rotation in 1989. It carried me through some hard times and I got my s*** together, married and had four kids and now seven grandkids. Forever grateful and a wonderful reaction, THANKS!

I remember when this song came out. I was in hospital for 4 months (Died Twice) after i was hit by a car on my bike at 80kmph. This song was on the TV (little tiny hospital TV) all the time and was around #1 for weeks, this song and Madonna's 'Cherish' song and i knew that the my world of pain was about to start shortly, as nurse changeover had just started and it was time to change bandages. I wished at the time that someone with 'Healing Hands' would come help me. This song takes me back to a dark time of my life but i now have now 4 kids and married to a wonderful wife which i am most blessed.. love your channel. Peace & Love from Electronic80s, Sydney, Australia xxx

Such a good and overlooked song. It was completely overshadowed when it came out in the UK as it was a double-A side with the phenomenal 'Sacrifice'. Together they gave Elton his first solo no. 1 in the UK.

Thank you Jay & Amber for YOUR healing energy! Next stop on your Elton journey should be his tongue-in-cheek, self referential The Bitch Is Back. It’s timeless rock. Then check out the piano-driven I Don’t Want To Go On With You Like That, a huge comeback hit from the late 1980s. I think you’ll love them both!

@@karish.6303 haha ok fair enough. I just get tired of the same generic comments lol! Off the top of my head, a few lesser known but still mainstream catchy songs (and he has a ton of good ones that nobody listens to on the albums S you can imagine)… Healing Hands (an uplifting gospel inspired song), runaway train (darker sing with Eric Clapton - but still upbeat…. One of of his most underrated and poignant singles I think - you can make history young again (check out the sentimental music video and the Conan obtien solo version he did on piano)…. Holiday inn (piano demo version - lovely road trip mellow song) ….Sacrifice (same era as healing hands… very beautiful slow song)… skyline pigeon (wistful song)…. There’s too many lol.

Nice one Amber and Jay. I guess you must have to have more people request the Elton ones I would like y'all to review: Indian Sunset and Ticking. I am not ashamed to keep asking you to review these because I really feel you would be blown away by them. Indian Sunset is from Madman Across the Water (1971) and starts out acapella. The orchestral arrangements are out of this world. (Please listen to the album cut version with lyrics.) The second one - Ticking - is from the Caribou album (1974) and has some of the most incredible piano playing I have ever heard - even from Elton. It is poignant and tells a story. Also please do the album version. If I had a third - it would be 60 Years On from the Elton John album (1970). Thanks Jay and Amber for entertaining us :)

You should Listen to the whole Elton John album "THE FOX" it is his fifteenth studio album from 1981 there is a video for all 11 songs on the album. A VHS TAPE came out called Visions, released in 1982 with 10 songs, The video for "Elton's Song", which dealt with the story of a teenage boy's admiration for another teenage boy he yearns for, but who is too shy to confront his feelings, was excluded from the UK video release because the public school it was filmed in objected to the theme of the song. My favorites are "Elton Song", "Breaking Down Barriers" & "The Fox" but all 11 songs rock!!!!! 😎😎🎵🎶🎵🎶🎸🎷🎹🎹🎹🎹 Ps most people don't know this album exists. The album met with limited success upon its release, but has received some critical reappraisal in recent years. 1."Breaking Down Barriers" 2."Heart in the Right Place" 3."Just Like Belgium" 4."Nobody Wins 5."Fascist Faces" 6."Carla/Etude" 7."Fanfare 8."Chloe" 9."Heels of the Wind" 10."Elton's Song" 11."The Fox The videos for all these songs can be found on Elton's own youtube page. He does not sing these songs too much in concert so thats why most people don't know them.

Amber and Jay - You must react to Elton's "Elderberry Wine". A terrific rocker! Have you been suggested to react to "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding"? Another great track that kicks off the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album. Get a copy of Elton's "Sleeping With the Past". An under-rated album by Elton, it was his homage to all the great rhythm and blues artists of the 60s. One of his best.
