On first inspection it looks to have all the ingredients to perform well, but sadly, once you delve a little deeper it seems to be a bit of a let down really. Streaming options limited to SD in some cases is not going to encourage me to part with my cash either.

DDR4 is great but do these boxes need anything more than 4Gb for TV/Movie streaming ? Also micro SD only up to 32Gb ? Not to mention the crazy price !

Do you think android tv boxes are still interesting in 2024? I feel like smart TVs are enough for multimedia purposes now. For gaming I prefer single board computer, I know sbc is not for everyone but it is more interesting in terms of performance and choice of operating system.

​@@DEDEMYT Depends on what TV. Philips's TitanOS is a buggy piece of shit with inconsistent UI behaviour. I am looking for a streambox so I can spend less time dealing with TitanOS and I am mostly appealed by how bad streamboxes can be. I don't want AppleTV, I don't own any apple devices and dont want to invest into that ecosystem. Shield TV does not support the latest file formats and is long overdue a new version. If Nvidia do release an upgraded Shield TV, then I will buy. Google TV Streamer was barely an upgrade to Chromecast. Disappointing. Any other brands seem to just be terrible in one way or another.
