I've seen them in concert, I think around 2014. In a live performance, each song is absolute perfection - every note, every vocal harmony. Amazing songwriters, musicians, and vocalists. Consummate professionals. You really owe it to yourself to listen to some of the other quality videos of The Eagles in concert.

Hotel California is a song that one wishes would not end. I put it on loop. Your comments are excellent. Spot on. Probably the greatest popular song in music history and this version was LIVE. How was it such perfection? Many things about Hotel California are unique. It causes physical and psychological effects much like a very strong chemical in the brain. I noticed a change in mood throughout the entire song. It will never be duplicated.

If you want to know why they are so good, watch their documentary History of the Eagles. First they are incredibly talented but they also put in the work. They wrote and played all the music themselves. They didn’t need 10 people dancing around them to entertain the crowd. The music did that on its own. Henley (drums) said it took him practicing a long time to drum and sing effectively at the same time. Same thing with Glenn Frey. He listened to Jackson Browne write songs for a year in the apt above him. Glenn realized it was the work and practice that made a great songwriter. This is what bands and singers used to do. Before the stage spectacular, spectacular became the show. They wrote great music. Of course they trashed a lot of hotel rooms too. But on stage it was all about the music.

Double neck Lead Guitar ** the songs music and the concept for it was written by guitarist Don Felder, the lyrics were written with the help of Glenn Frey & Don Henley ** Each member of Eagles could be and were a lead singer in the band.

This line-up didn't last long, for the Hotel California album Joe Walsh had just replaced Bernie Leadon, but Randy Meisner was still there, he would soon go back to Poco and Timothy B. Schmidt would replace him. Henley wasn't the main singer in the early days, they all took turns on lead (except Don), and before Joe, they were much less a "rock" band - easily to drop and sing lead at a lower volume and tempo.

"How can they be so good?" Really? 1977 - the height of the Rock Era. Disco, then Punk killed any really good music when they arrived. All these guys were incredibly talented musicians, who could actually recreate their studio sound live, unlike the "studio musicians" of today who a) Need autotune to stay on pitch, b) Seem 'lacking' in their instrumental skills for someone at that level, and c) Never come up with a creative storyline for new material...like Hotel California. To quote a line from a show I love: "Real music died about 1977."

Regarding the messages about not interrupting, I'll expand that. You should never interrupt ANY instrumental solo, regardless of the instrument (guitars, keyboards, drums, bass, etc.). Also, please don't talk over any part of a song, if for no other reason that YOU may miss something.
