How To Remove Range Rover Sport L494 Front Bumper / SVR Conversion etc

In this video we look at how to remove the front bumper on our Range Rover Sport L494 Supercharged. The bumper is actually quite easy to remove if you follow the steps shown in this video and will only take about 30 minutes.

Superb video thank you. Mine is a xenon and I don’t have front indicator (drivers side) or DLR working. The headlamp connector is loose. Can it be replaced. E bay have replacement headlamps but not sure if they are reliable. Can the headlamp be refurbished? Thanks for the help in enabling me to remove it.

Quite a lot of work to change the head lights / fog lights.. What height were you flying at, when you had the bird strike, lucky it didn't go thru the windshield.... as always very informative ... well done to all..

Would love to see you guys make a grill that deletes the fog lights. Lots of demand for that I bet. Especially for us that can’t swap to a SVR bumper due to cameras and parking sensor differences. Would greatly improve the look without a lot of money spent.

Yes we did talk about that yesterday - we were looking at adding the later fog light but that was tricky due to space etc - but i think I agree with you that just ditch the fog lamp !

Have you considered doing a 2019 facelift of the front end (bumpers and wings) which should in theory also let you upgrade to the new matrix front lights?

Please do a video showing how to take off the rear spoiler and align the rear tailgate. The strip (same as led tailgate strip) sits lower than the shoulders of it seems 75% of RRS. The L494 wasn’t designed for the tailgate to sit lower yet they leave the factory this way. Would be great to see how to fix it for the L494 Tailgate Droop Club!

I think the DRLS are driven by the LINbus system on the car. I cannot see that they have coded this to the car. So does one headlight behave different to the other one ?

@@L663 so no. They both behave the same. And they are brand new Magneti Marelli (. The drl’s are on with headlights on or when parking lights are on but do not seem to function as pure drl’s during the day

Hey so actually they are working. Sorry for the confusion. I believe I was getting fooled by the ambient light sensor. It was getting dark here so the headlights were on. 🤦🏻thanks again for the video!

After removing the front bumper (facia), can you remove the whole front clip on these to access the engine better?

Not really - you have to then remove all the radiators - and air conditioning radiator to more access to the engine - so it will help but there are more items to unbolt.

Not to fit the bumper - but if you want the SVR side vents you need to change the fenders ( we call them wings in the UK )

@@L663 Got it-- I don't care about the SVR side vents. So I just need the lights retrofitted. Should I buy a chinese version? I'm afraid of poor quality, I prefer OEM. But I can't find out how to use the OEM head lights with the old harness. There are no harnesses I can find online.

@@publicname515 Sorry if you change 2013-2017 sport to SVR the bumper fits - no need to change anything id you want to fit the 2018 SVR to an early sport this is more complex. The chinese lights are not great - the ones i have tested.

That would be impossible as the body and the chassis are one ! You need to drop the rear subframe on for some jobs - i need to do this to fix the electric rear differential !

I think the plan is to do the simple SVR upgrade first - as this looks super easy - then after that we will do the full 2018 SVR upgrade !
