ANNOUNCEMENT: -New doc about Frank Ocean releasing in the next month (hopefully). -Afterwords I plan on making a documentary about Kendrick Lamar. -When summer rolls around, I plan on releasing a main doc every other week and a mini doc in between each. -I am going through some personal things and will be moving across the country in the next month, so I apologize if anything is hindered from that. -Lastly, I plan on growing this channel tremendously, having more fan interactions and hopefully reaching 10,000 subscribers by the end of summer. -At some point in time, I do want to redo the entire Kanye West doc and Donald Glover doc. I hope everyone is excited for the next video and will stick around for new content. Thanks! -Elijah Cinema

Yo. I just found your channel TODAY.... It's been 2 years since this video and since your post, but you're at 1.5k subs; I don't get it. KZbin is so ridiculous by it's huge promotion and favoritism of large Networks & Network shows yet does everything it can to suppress channels like yours --> True Independent creators that put out FANTASTIC original content. Afterall, it's called KZbin... It's become so commercial and so corporate, it's no wonder so many alternative platforms have come about. Minds.com, BitChute, DTube, LBRY, Vimeo, and so on. Some of those platforms are actually BETTER than KZbin as they forego many of KZbin's restrictions, yet unfortunately none of them have anywhere near the reach nor user base as KZbin.... For you to only have 1.5k subs yet be uploading such high level Quality Original content is truly absurd to me; and I'm sure the majority of your subscribers would agree with me. It's mind-boggling and equally frustrating. Any thoughts on these things? Cheers
@ElijahCinema4 жыл бұрын
@@humanbeing_ No I agree. Personally I've never done KZbin for monetary reasons or anything like that. It's always been a platform for me that allows expression through my short films, as well as connection and hopefully bringing value to others. Rest assured I'm sure if I continued to make docs on musicians and become better at it, I would've found an audience by now. But I also like doing a variety of other things, and ultimately film is more important to me than anything else. I fully believe whatever happens happens, and everything works out in the end. Would be awesome to eventually gain a following and audience because I think KZbin fanbases can be one of the most genuine groups of people out there, but everything comes with time. And obviously I don't the type of content that fully captures an audience. Thanks for the comment!

Great video, Elijah! One thing is missing though.. the fact that all of his personas are the same person. Donald as a comedian, musician, and actor...they're all the same person. That's what's miraculous is his ability to combine all of these things together.

21:05 this part actually made me sad, I’d never seen someone I looked up to feel so defeated. It’s depressing
@exetheluckyone3 жыл бұрын
It makes me feel sad that he felt that way too, but I also admire him for sharing it. I believe he's really brave for opening up like that and showing his insecurities and fears. I admire him so much, and if someone like him feels insecure and scared at times, then I feel so much relief about my own insecurities and feelings because he showed me that no matter how big some artists are, we are all human and going through our own internal battles, and that's just part of life, and you can be as great as him despite your fears and insecurities. At least I see it that way, and I'm glad I read that, actually

Very problematic when the narrator references Glovers Lil wayne interpretation without knowing its source - calling it a nasal flow lol. Another white narrator documenting a prominent black creator while operating on ignorance of black culture. Alot of glovers genius is him lnowing how to operate in the world from his point of reference. As he has said before, if you know the world you can take it over- that goes to say he knew in order to operate through the world as a black man with white qualities, he would have to take a circuitous route in order to navigate biases and prejudices from both white and black worlds; thus, he began in academia, entered tv world, then went music, back into tv more in a black frame of reference, to then spiderman and star wars. Out of necessity, he garnered the support of 5 different demographics, education levels and backgrounds, in route to where he wanted to be the whole time - an entertainer erasing racial lines with universal appeal while creating from his own unique experience.
