Powering up the VRInsight 737 Overhead Panel_MSFS

Here you can see the VRInsight Boeing 737 overhead panel, function alongside it's virtual counterpart. I think the video shows the functioning of this panel very well.

Hi Rocky, Do you have any videos on the software installation. How do you get the sim to recognize the hardware? Do you use VRsim software? If you dont have a video, would you be able to direct to a place where you learnt? I have this overhead sitting in storage collecting dust, because im software illiterate. Thanks!

Hiya, sure, I have a video where I discuss the installation procedure and give a short overview of the panel. I don't have a step-by-step tutorial, but effectively you need to install the paid version of SPAD, install a profile and away you go! That's awesome, question though, what do the packs do? I know they need to be turned off at one point but I don't know if they should be on when starting the engines and off after take off...

Hya, sure, they are the air conditioning system for the cabin (Pneumatic Air Conditioning system). They should be switched off during engine start and then turned back on, and left on, until shut down.

The packs also are what keep the pressurization, if you are not starting the engines, then they should be on because otherwise you'll have a depressurized cabin

737 pilot here. Packs are an air conditioning system managing circulation of air in the cabin and pressurisation of the aircraft. Simply said pack is a mixing unit which takes hot bleed air from the engines/apu bleed air duct and mix it with colder ram air to regulate cabin air temperature and pressure. Usually packs are in ”auto” position before engine start. This is to take bleed air from apu bleed air duct or external aircart to condition the cabin before engine start. During engine start packs are usually turned off to increase pressure from the apu bleed air duct and force it to flow to the engine starter valve for a normal start sequence. Once engines are started, packs are once again turned back into ”auto” position, apu bleed and apu itself is turned off and the packs get bleed air directly from the engine bleed air ducts. Hi, thanks for your support. Sure, the VC cockpit panel was filmed in game with Nvidia recorder and the actual panel was recorded with my DSLR camera. Then it's just a matter of importing the two video files onto two separate timelines in the edit, creating a matt, dragging the VC version to the left of the frame and the other to the right side of the frame, and then bringing the two layers together into a single timeline.

Hi, you must have the COMPLETE EDITION OF SPAD. You then need to run the correct profile, or snippet as they call it. Here is an earlier reply to another simmer: Firstly, the profiles are greyed out and unavailable unless you you have the aircraft loaded and have the panel connected. Also you need to have one of the switches clicked on as though yopu are going through the process of configuring switches. I know it seems ridiculous, but I had the same problem as you until someone told me how to do it, very sill That's the only way I have been able to resolve things. Importamt.....I'm assuming you have the panel actually recognised by SPAD and it is showing up. Then: Turn off panel Launch MSFS Load PMDG cold and dark 737 Open SPAD Sync the panel by turning on and off and on again. Click HIGH ALT LANDING button just above logo light Click on the third icon on left (stack of radios)This will bring up a diagram of one of the panel switches Click on any switch in the diagram This will make avaialbe a box bottom right called ONLINE SNIPPET The profile you need is: 6362 Here's another video of mine that may help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmWaZKqsedChg9k

Hiya, sure, you won't find anyone I'm afraid. They used to be sold via Aerosoft, but no longer. You will have to deal directly with them in Korea I believe.

The old FSX version used to have a ‘hidden’ function on either the DC or AC bus selector. The extra position on the switch allowed you to monitor the APU EGT on one of the 7-segment displays. Do you know if this has been modelled by SpadNext? Thanks 👍 (great to see this working in MSFS!)

Hmm, that's interesting. I don't know about this, I will have to take a closer look. When you say the seven segment displays, are you referring to the LEDs?

No, the actual (red) displays next to where it says “DC Volts” and “AC Amps” etc. One of the selector switches had an extra detent that would switch the display from showing AC Amps to EGT. It was a lovely feature in lieu of an EGT gauge and handy during start up.

That sounds like it! I had the older, more compact version of the panel and it wasn’t labelled, but the detent was there. Would be great to know if it works. Thanks, Ed

Why does the APU gauge not work?

Hi Craig, there are no gauges on the panel. The ones you see in the video are dummy displays that I made myself, see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ram6pmuYpdJkadU

The APU temp can be displayed digitally in the red voltages display area by turning the rotary knob one further position than what’s labelled. A cool workaround. I love this overhead. Extremely happy with mine. Purchased directly from VrInsight and shipped to Canada!
