I don’t have any friends as an adult anymore. I have always been a person who had a lot of acquaintances but a few select friends. I had a “best friend” but I realized as an adult that this person wasn’t really my friend. They didn’t want to celebrate my wins ever because it made them insecure. My other friends were friends from teenage years that I outgrew. Now I’m just dolo and healing and intentional about what friends I’ll make going forward.

thank you for sharing your perspective. sometimes God will lead us through a season of pruning and reflection so that we are prepared and intuitively know when we come across what is right for us. that season of releasing and solitude also makes it so that we truly appreciate our bounty once we receive it. i am praying that you are gentle with yourself as you shed the layers of yourself that you no longer are and that when God ushers in a new season you move into it with grace. love you. ❤️

Hi hun. As an adult to me my friends are my family. Growing up I had a nice amount of who I though were my friends but I was very wrong. I was setup and used by my so called friends. So I just rock with my family. Have a great weekend ❤

hi beautiful. i'm so happy for you that you are able to call your friends your family as well. it's such a blessing to have community around you that genuinely wants to be there through the ups and the downs. i'm sorry to hear that you've had unpleasant experiences with platonic friendships in the past. friendship looks different for all of us and i pray you continue to align yourself with those who truly have your best intentions at heart. 💜💜

Your twist-looks came out bomb! Thanks for using our products. 💞 It’s refreshing to hear you talk about the important of friendships in adulthood. It’s so important to nurture platonic relationships as well as the romantic and familial ones!

Hey Kenya, your hair looks really moisturized and healthy. This topic definitely needs to be talked about more especially when you are transitioning between your late 20s and 30s! I feel like I’m in solitude season but I want to be more open to new friendships however I feel like I allow past relationships to interfere with me stepping out and putting myself out there. My biggest thing is trust it’s very hard to trust people but I do like how you mention you are beginning to insert your self in outings you enjoy to attract more like minded people. Also I love how you mentioned in this current season you are intentionally about choosing your friends and that you are a high maintenance friend. You really got me sitting here thinking I need to rethink my maintenance of a friend. I try to be the friend that don’t require much because “life” requires so much but at the same time like you said it’s okay okay to be that friend that needs more yet still respecting your friend boundaries. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

hi beautiful. thank YOU for sharing! i resonate deeply with all of what you said. that trust piece can be a tricky one. i've found in the past that it would take me a while to warm up to friends and i would come off guarded. as i have healed more and learned to trust myself, i find that i can take a bit of the pressure off those around me because at the end of the day i know that i have me. i still believe in taking my time with building relationships with others and having a vetting process, but during the time of getting to know them i find I'm less distant, and that ironically leads to more fruitful connections. i wish you ease, blessings, and genuine connection as you shift out of your solitude season. may you be met with love and people who truly value your heart! 🙏🏽
