It looks like a nightmare to get it on, I feel claustrophobic just watching it
@tigerak0211 жыл бұрын
5) You get it off by peeling it off (you are essentially flipping the suit inside out), using the gloves (with your palms) and slowing working the suit off.
@tigerak0211 жыл бұрын
1) Sizing differs by the brand, but go for "competitive fit" or smaller for the best amount of support. I have to customize all my gear at this point since stock suits don't fit me well. 2) It depends how you utilize the suit, some people get nothing out of it and some people claim 30 or more pounds out of it. 3) I only wear it 6-8 weeks building up to a competition. 4) Yeah, you have to wear it for the duration of training; I think I had this on for about 2.5 hours.

Equipped lifting is an entirely different monster. I stopped because it was just too hard. Much more difficult than raw. Lifting weights 20 or 30% over your raw max is so intoxicating and you just feel like a superhuman. I do miss that part. Kang has been at it for a long time, much respect to his constant improvement.

I got a lot of questions; How do you choose sizing? How much does it improve your deadlift by? Do you wear it every workout? Do you wear it for a long time (it looks like it restricts bloodflow)? And how do you get it off?

Alex in the sumo do you just take one breath, grab the bar and pull. Or do you take a second breath once you have grabbed the bar when in the suit

Hey i got another question. What is your way in taking off a very tight squat suit? My coach has me in a very tight squat suit. It still fits but just tight, had to get sliders to slide them on. But it is very hard to take them off, takes about a good 20 minutes with help by 3 people to take it off. Got any tips??
@matcoddy60977 жыл бұрын
it'll get easier every time, and fold it down before you pull the leg down, push from the inside as well
@dannycv59 жыл бұрын
Since you do geared pl. I also do geared pl for my highschool. And in our federation they let us wear squat briefs under our squat suit. I also deadlift wide like you do. So do you think wearing squat briefs under my deadlift suit will benefit my lift even more?
@tigerak029 жыл бұрын
if it affects your positioning then no; the USAPL doesn't allow briefs.
@jamesbateman5215 жыл бұрын
Have you any experience with squat briefs at all and how does that compare? Assume you can still add more weight to the bar and therefore work the overload
@tigerak025 жыл бұрын
not a fan of them but I can see them working if the leg sleeves are long enough

I grab with my fingers under the legs and pull it up, then pull out the creases by pulling on the sides. Don't like it either to hang off with the straps. But that's a really tight suit Alex... Mine for deadlifts is on in just a minute or 2. And I still get quite a lot out of it. Definitly around 30kg. Isn't it anoying to spend so much time on putting your suit on when you only have 20mins in between bench and deadlift?
@trekranger9 жыл бұрын
Seems to me that the suit is doing most of the lifting . I don't see the personal benefits to yourself. I like wearing something tight to squat but not to help in the lifting. Am I wrong on this? I personally never worn a squat suit so I can't say for sure
@matcoddy60977 жыл бұрын
to answer you're question, you are wrong, BUT its great that your open minded :) , what happens is the body stabilizes through the range of motion, as well as contracting hard more towards the top etc., similar to accommodating resistance. Benefits are overload, which improve raw lifting. Theirs tons of other benefits as well
@TAvids4BN199011 жыл бұрын
In my personal experience I've found that tighter is not always better, definitly not on bench and deadlift.
@tigerak0211 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's definitely annoying but it's worth the carryover. I do have enough time in between the bench and deadlift to get it on since it's the first thing I do after I get my bench shirt off.

Does putting on the suit with the smith machine stretch the straps out much??
@tigerak029 жыл бұрын
it does, but I try to prevent that by putting my hand on the strap with the atlas glove to prevent too much stretching

A lot of guys (like me) use a light squat suit such as the inzer champion or z suit to protect hips will squatting. Especially when you've got a ton hip labrum that just won't heal. Blaine Sumner actually starting doing single ply for the very reason that it prevented extreme hip pain. You do what you can but remember light suits were made to protect not enhance lifts. All these raw guys you see will have short career's due to the how hard raw is on your joints and tendons

using a suit can increase you're raw squat as well, its a method of "overloading"
