We have no boiler guy at our facility. I have a service plumbing background and the hvac guy is residential, this is a college campus. I hoping to learn some with your videos. Do you recommend a book? We have burnham and rite boiler

@sovereign max - This is typical for many organizations like schools. Personnel with limited or no experience with boilers are in charge of these systems. Experience and training are the best bets to create a foundation for understanding steam and hot water boilers. Power Mechanical Inc. Steam School is a great way to get the fundamentals down. You mention air and leaks in hydronic systems... I know some guys that say air vents and separators let in as much air as they let out... BS or an actual issue?

That's a great question. However these are designed to work like a check valve. They typically have a ball that will float up and down with the rising/falling water. Tentative to water quality or other things that could impinge the float mechanism then they could hang up allow some air yet there would be a surge of water. Concluding that they should just be check regularly for proper function.
