I had an ‘84 Ranger that I replaced the blown stock 2.8L V6 with a .060 over 302. This was back in the days of Advanced Adapters catalogs. Man, that truck was fun in the woods, but was even better on the street with my 5.0 badges on the fenders!

I have been dying to do this same swap for so long, ever since I rode in that older Lincoln MkVIII. The InTech 32V 4.6 is a beast and is an EXTREMELY capable engine, so to put it in a Ranger chassis is a recipe for a good time. Also, I had a dream of building a 95 or newer S10 with a large displacement V8, or to build a high displacement LS and supercharge it with a 6 speed Tremec. Either way, Ford or Chevy, it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

@hanzgrueber145

In my observation the difference between Ford and GM/Chevy is that when it comes to the each brands bullet proof motors, Chevy takes the cake. Yes engines like the supercharged 4.6 terminator motor can handle a lot of power but its pretty rare meanwhile every gmc envoy/Buick rainier/Chevy trailblazer is driving around with a 4.2 vortec i6 that’ll handle 600whp on stock internals, and then you have all the Chevy truck v8’s the 4.8’s eat boost, 5.3s love power, and 6.0s blow tires off no matter what

Since they are essentially the same truck it is a real easy swap and right now all The Navigators and Expeditions are hitting the junk yards in droves as they are at the right age do hit the "end of thier useful life".

@JustcallmeGnarly22
@JustcallmeGnarly22 4 жыл бұрын
He explained it at the beginning. It's a rebadged Ford Ranger. Ford used to own Mazda. Mazda supplied Ford with vehicles and engines such as the Ford Escort and the Probe. Both of which were rebadged Mazdas. The Probe had different body work though. In return Ford helped with funding and allowed Mazda to rebadge the Ranger as a Mazda since Mazda didn't have a truck at the time.

Sad part is these little pickups are so light at the rear and nose heavy they can’t get any traction plus don’t handle well either. Hell even the stock six poppers spin the tires all the time, so what I am saying is without a lot of suspension and loss of comfort item mods this is a waste of time. The only way this works is by making a full race rig.

But see, if I wanted to really build a badass supercharged Ranger, I'd have started with a 5.4 supercharged engine out of a Lightning with a 6 speed manual. Y'all can say what you want, but back in the day when I was 19 (2001) I had a turbocharged 1992 Acura Integra (DA9 chassis) and it made 457 whp, which made it pretty damn fast, and my best friend had an 800 whp Kenne Bell supercharged 95 Mustang GT with a fully forged and sleeved 5.4, and it would stand straight up on it's rear bumper from a dig, and we would race all the time. Well, there was a dude that lived in the area that had a new Lightning with a manual trans and he would whoop our asses somehow. Obviously his truck was highly modified as well, but he would drag our asses and we could never track him down to talk. Moral of the story, the 5.4 can be made into a badass engine.

If you look on the mazda frame, you'll see Ford stamped all over it. I've got an 02 ranger and 01 b2300. Swapped the b2300 engine to the ranger because it's engine was blown. Both the duratec 2.3l. Bolt for bolt swap. They're twins. Swaps on my channel, no where near a quality show, but gets the point across. Kind of like the dodge stealth and mitsubishi 3000gt. All big companies do this. Interchangeable parts if you know what to look for.

They were designed and built by Ford on the same line at the same time as the Ranger. Mazda essentially paid Ford to re-badge some trucks for them. None of the key parts, (frame, suspension, powertrain are Mazda) other than Mazda badges, different side glass and a bed body line, they are a Ranger. I always thought the Ford cab with the Mazda bed would be a better look anyway.

I put a 4.6 in my 4x4 ranger a year before these guys done it . Wish I could of watched these guys do it first ,Would of save me a lot of time and modifications that I didn't have to make . I moved the steering box out 2 inches to clear the exhaust manifold , dumbest thing I ever did.

Send the 4.6 to Horsepower so they can do a budget coyote build

I had an 03 with the 2.3 Duratec, I would only average about 21-23 MPG, I wonder if this V8 will get about the same.

Probably with the weight difference..especially with a 5 or 6 speed and 373 gears or 3.55 it should get good mileage hell even the 4.6 v8 got decent mileage in the crown vic's and grand marquis
