Been a while since I've seen a Grünfeld. The complexity of the Grünfeld makes it a kind of queenside Najdorf. Always nutty positions.

Chuky vs Rapport, what a pairing, guaranteed chaos/fun. Almost no chance they'll disappoint. Great to see, thanks.

I did get Nb8, just by thinking about where I would like my knight (c6) and seeing this was the only way to get there. In the Caruana game, I saw Rb8, but not what was wrong with it.

Daniel, you should find an equally eloquent phrase for a poor king dragged into the middle of the board and make a coffee mug for that as well😅. Love the octopus knight, queen in sibiria, and the arch bishop already.

GM King, I am hoping that post-Olympiad you might look at a few Ivanchuk games from over the years that are instructive to how to play his creative, aggressive style while still being a relatively sound player. I find his games fascinating and would love to learn from them as much as they entertain. Thank you as always for your coverage of the chess world, past and present!

As stated Mr Rapport is not Mr Chaos but but Mr Chess indeed. No computers, as we use to say (when younger) ! And now, play if you know how to !.. and India is another history they are superb in both men and women ! Good for Mr King ! … not so good for the rest as many more advertisement will be disturbing … or not. Thanks for sharing this game

One week ago: "The worst bishop is still better than the knight." 5:04 : "How much advantage does white have? Probably not that much because the knight on c5 is strong." It's kinda funny how full of contradictions the game truely is. My non-chess friends really don't get this. Good video as always, thanks. (Really fun game, Ivanchuk got Ivanchuk'ed by Rapport).

Football fans sing "can we play you every week" when their team plays against one they tend to get the better of I'm not saying Rapport always gets the better of Chuky but I can imagine he would love to play him every day when excitement like this is served up!

That is indeed the move the machines like. However, I don't think he 'missed it', as you say. The calculation needed to play this move is very difficult, and he obviously didn't trust it. He must have thought that the game continuation was better, but missed Rapport's clever response.
