Hi Danny, love the channel and been following you since the Grandmaster Chess video magazine, and we’ve traded a few emails. Was wondering, have you read any new chess books lately that you like? Thanks.

@@TheHparks3 :) I would like to recommend this new book: www.newinchess.com/sultan-khan Should be published at the beginning of April. You can pre-order directly via the link. I became fascinated by Sultan Khan's mysterious story and have spent the last few years researching and writing the book. I also portray the chess scene in the late 1920s early 1930s, the rivalry between Alekhine and Capablanca, the rise of chess nations such as the USA. I hope you will enjoy it!

This analysis based on rook e4 was the most beautiful method of analysis. It was a peek into the minds of grandmasters and possibly even their fallacies. I think Mr King and indeed everybody should analyse in this style. Take a critical position and consider all logically possible alternatives.

Grischuk spending 51mins on first move after timecontroll is hillarious
@itskmillz
@itskmillz 4 жыл бұрын
@@BeFourCM You don't need to be Magnus Carlsen to know his time management is bad lol he is notorious for doing this. It's just a quirk about Grischuk, he's addicted to time pressure. He's a better blitz player than classical.
@horrortackleharry
@horrortackleharry 4 жыл бұрын
It's not correct. It also says that MVL spent 1hr 7mins on 41 h6, which I don't believe. It's a software glitch they've never managed to sort out properly- the first move after the time control always has wrong recorded timings.

MVL had plenty of time to find the winning move, and this result might prove to be a difference maker if he does miss out winning the candidates by one win. Thanks Daniel for this wonderful treat.

Many people say that MVL sometimes moves too quick in critical moments, even though he has enoug time to go through all the possibilities. Maybe that's his biggest weakness.

Vladimir Kramnik does not get the acclaim for re-inventing the Berlin that he deserves. It is second in Opening Surprises only to The Marshall Attack in the Ruy Lopez . Both openings have stood the test of time and have gobs of analysis that go deep. Vlad ushered in a new age in Chess where players now have to be able to use the concept of the coordination of pieces along with space control. You add to that the unusual tactics that come in to play makes for interesting Chess on the highest level. Thank You for slowly going over this game. Too many others just speak to fast when commentating. Chess analysis is like eating a warm piece of fresh bread smothered in honey in that one wants to slowly savor every taste. Thanks for your efforts.

Ppl seem to miss an important and ever present point, that no-one taps a player on the shoulder and says "hey, there's a forced win right NOW", in which case they would obviously invest sufficient time until they'd worked it out. Many lesser players would work this one out likewise. The combined GMs watching in the studio didn't quickly get it even when gustafsson was alerted.

I'd like to ask, is it ever a consideration, and is it even possible, to play an early (say move 14 or 16?) Rd8 in an attempt to exchange it for the d1 rook?
@maelstrom57
@maelstrom57 4 жыл бұрын
It is very much possible. On move 14 it's actually the 2nd most popular move with an exact 50% score. On move 16 it's been played once against MVL by Karjakin.

A question to the berlin: what if it were a blitz game and nobody could prove that the king on e8 has moved, if that were the case you could still castle hahaha now I know why the Berlin is a great opening

What did he say at 2:15? The subtitle is saying that he said" black is unable to castle". But in this case it seems to me that he didn't exactly pronounce 'unable' how I'm normally accostumed to. Did I get this wrong? Accostomed**
