(*someone who doesnt watch baseball*) chris tell me more about how smart i should be to watch baseball D:

I disagree w/ Chris on baseball. Lol. I agree that baseball has a ton of analytics involved and even the terminology and multitude of stats measured is more than basketball or football (I don't watch hockey or soccer so I can't compare them). I also agree with strategies such as a type of pitch that a strong hitter is bad against, sac-flys, bunts, pinch runners, calling for time to freeze the batter/ pitcher, etc. What I like about basketball is that a defense can adjust many times w/in on possession alone. There's also many types of defenses you can play: zone vs. man-to-man, sending the player down the middle or to the baseline, double-teaming a post-player from the weak side or strong side, going over a screen or under a screen, etc. Even zone defense alone has many forms, among the most common of which are the 2-3, 3-2, and the Box-and-1 zones. The defensive positions in baseball tend to stay the same but basketball can be more fluid. For example, a shot-blocking Center can be brought out to the perimeter if the person he's defending can shoot, while a smaller but quick perimeter player can be posted up from the low block to shoot over instead of trying to drive past them. In the older days of pre-zone defense, you can position a big man in the 3-Pt. area on the weak side just so that he can't block a player w/ the ball on the strong side. For football, there's many defensive sets you can have and they can adjust depending on the offensive personnel involved. As far as athleticism goes I consider baseball players as athletes but probably not the same level as other major sports. While the MLB has 162 games per year, the game is not exhausting to the players which is why they can play several days in a row whereas a back-to-back game for the NBA and a 4 day break in the NFL can result in injuries bc of fatigue. Hockey has a lot of cardio and there is a ton of physicality involved in that sport also. While I do watch baseball myself, I do agree w/ some people that it is more boring compared to basketball, football, and hockey. You can watch a whole 3 hour game only to have your team score 0 runs. While that can technically happen in hockey and football, football teams can at least try for a field goal from 50 yards away for 3 points and garbage time points can allow for a relatively easy touchdown. If you're a bad offensive football team, a great defense can still result in easy points- a recovered fumble or an interception can give you a touchdown while an easy 3 and out puts the receiving team in great field position. In baseball, great defense doesn't equate to scoring runs. In fact, they don't equate to each other at all. A pitch clock would probably tire out a pitcher's arm but would speed up the game tremendously. I think a lot of baseball fans watched and knew the sport when they were younger. It's much harder to learn the game if you've followed basketball, football, hockey, MMA, or boxing first bc they're more fluid and has more action and there is less terminology involved. btw, thank you to anyone who read this long ass post. Lol.

I learned alot about standard wrestling, smart people baseball and reminnesced about old SpongeBob quotes while Jenn was presenting hers, great job y'all 🙂 My favorite quote from SpongeBob was "ManRay : Excuse me sir, but I do believe you've dropped your wallet. Patrick : Doesn't look familiar to me. ManRay : What? I just saw you drop it. Here. Patrick : Nope, it's not mine. ManRay : It is yours. I am trying to be a good person and return it to you. Patrick : Return what to who? ManRay : [facepalms, then shows Patrick his ID] Aren't you Patrick Star? Patrick : Yup. ManRay : And this is your ID. Patrick : Yup. ManRay : I found this ID in this wallet. And if that's the case, this must be your wallet. Patrick : That makes sense to me. ManRay : Then take it. Patrick : It's not my wallet. ManRay : [in anger and frustration] You dim-bulb! Take back your wallet or I'll rip your arms off!"

You have to be the top 20% to make it into the Uefa Champions League. Percentages you see in US sports are so much higher becoz it encourages more viewership which equates to more money. Its not about excellence in the game, its about the money.
