I have to say I really do enjoy these videos myself. How in depth it is and how it's analyzed by different variables. Thank you guys! Also they have tested the V2 in previous videos and the J braid 8 grand out preformed. For those that were asking for the V2 test.

Power Pro V2 super slick would be a more fair comparison to Jbraid grand 8x. But solid video none the less. Thanks for making and sharing.

Fair point! But technically there is a waxy coatibf on Power Pro V2 Super Slick that definitely affects the density of the line. There is no coating on J-Braid x8 Grand. It might be worth investigating x8 Grand against another non-waxy 8 strand such as Seaguar Smackdown, Fins Sling or Sunline Siglon x8.

I don’t see many people talking about Yozuri fishing lines. I switched to using them this year. I don’t know what it is, but I get way less wind knots, It’s a lot smoother than most in my opinion and all round great line for a cheap price.

Tightlinebraid over ANYTHING! Get some and try it out. My personal experience on the amount of lines I’ve used from power pro, j braid, varivas, suffix, berkley x9. TightlineBraid is unbeatable in smoothness, overall strength and casting is a dream. You’ll thank me later. Plus tightline is made in the US.

How did you get the line loaded so evenly on each spool? I just loaded a Daiwa BG 2500 with 10lb braid and it loaded up the top of the reel much more than the bottom half. It's really uneven on my spool. Any tips?

I don’t even use regular Power Pro anymore since their Maxcuatro and their 8 strand V2 braid hit the market. Maxcuatro for grass and the 8 strand for open water.

Along a similar line, I have a request regarding rods and casting distance. Specifically, the rods that have the "Microwave" line guide. I've noticed a lot more manufacturers using the microwave guide as their first line guide. I understand the claim is it provides longer casting distance. I find it hard to believe that line spiralling off a reel into a more narrow line guide would increase casting distance. Logically it should be more restrictive and provide more friction. Can you set up an experiment to validate or disprove the claim? Thanks.

I love PowerPro and I mainly bass fish, but that PowerPro wasn’t meant for casting. It’s more for flipping and jigging. Now the PowerPro V2 is more for casting. There is a significant casting distance difference between the 4 strand and the 8 strand braid.

I am surprised at how concentrated the cast distances were, with so many variables: wind speed, the caster, the angle of when the line was released, the strength of the cast and line to spool gap.

The waters high but the Umpqua live fish cam is showing a lot of Steelhead moving through, the river will start to drop soon and I expect to see good numbers of fish and maybe even some Chinooks in a couple of weeks 👍🏻🎣🐟

I agree with several others… although regular Power Pro is more popular l, Power Pro V2 is the direct competitor to the J-Braid X8 Grand. Likewise, standard J-Braid 4 Strand would be a direct competitor to standard Power Pro.

Casting spinners for salmon I use a chain link swivel and it eliminates wind knots and my knots are the strongest I know of 🎣🐟 JBraid👍🏻👍🏻filled to the max 😉

As long as they don't backlash or break it probably doesn't matter. I had some Seaguar brand braid years ago (they don't make that product anymore probably had to change the name it was so bad) and it would just break in your hands for no reason so it was unusable.

Creating a video comparing lines that aren't intended to be equivalent is useless clickbait Yes another video may or may not show something else (one of the top comments posted about a previous video including the v2 8 strand powerpro} .... But If you are rating something then why would you rate an 8 to a 4 strand if a company produces both. If anything the powerpro 4 here should be used as a baseline against the jbraid 4 and the powerpro 8 and fins.... OR you could rate only the jbraid 4, pp 4 and new finns 5... Maybe use 8 strand as a comparison exaggerating baseline. Also to me the diameter is one of the most important aspects as you can say a line is 10lb but if it's 1mm versus another 10lb being. .1mm thats rather nonsensical (yes I am exaggerating the diameters). Some lines though are. Theoretically equivalent line types and one is. .48mm and one is. .35mm for the same mfg line rating.... If we presume that say. .38mm is the normalized rating for that lb test then if the .35mm produces same or higher than most it's very good if the.. .48 is the same or maybe 10percent better in one category out of 10.... It's absolutely garbage.

Another comparison that proves absolutely nothing. If you are going to compare lines for casting distance there are two primary considerations, carrier and diameter. 4 carrier lines are normally rougher to the feel than 8 carrier lines and that greatly affects casting distance due to increased friction. And then you have to consider is one line coated like the super slick varieties which reduces friction. And finally there is line diameter. Power Pro is probably the thickest line per lb. rating on the market. I use Ohero Advanced Braid. Their 30lb. line is thinner than Power Pro 15lb. so comparing 15 to 15 the PP wouldn't have a chance.
