"The Powerpuff Girls" and "live action" are two terms that should never be used together. Of all the animated shows they could make into live action, this is among the WORST. PPG was made specifically to be animated, it's not that far from Looney Tunes in terms of how cartoony it is.

Blossom likes responsibility and being dependable. it's who she is as a character. Buttercup likes to fight and enjoys chaos, that's her character as well. Bubbles is the only one whose personality would logically develop into something that might abhor violence but then Bubbles has the Berserker button. The powerpuff girls weren't complex characters so changing their primary attributes kind of means they aren't the same characters at all. Having seen what CW did with Archie it's not impossible to assume that the writers will retcon the lore of the show out of contempt for its original premise. That synopsis implies that is exactly happening.

I've got some predictions here!: -The Professor will be a deadbeat dad who never loved the girls -Theres a 99% chance Buttercup will be gay because she's the tough girl and as we all know, if you aren't traditionally girly in media you have to be the gay one. -One of the girls will be dating one of The Rowdyruff Boys. -Theres an episode where Ms. Bellum talks about being sexually harassed by the Mayor OR -Pretty woman bad, she's not in the show. -One of the girls will be either a drug addict or a sex addict -Heroes like Major Glory will make a cameo...only to be sexist towards the girls because women can't be heroes despite them being well known for over a decade according to the show description These may seem like stretches, by when the CW is involved, the possibilities are ENDLESS!

My predictions/thoughts: 1. Professor Utonium isn't a deadbeat dad, but might actually be dead. The loss of their father could be the "straw that broke the camel's back" that caused the PPG to give up crime fighting and go their separate ways. 2. Princess Morbucks won't be a blogger, but instead be a CEO like Lex or Lena Luthor. Whether she's mellowed out or not would remain to be seen, though I do expect her to use some powered armor at some point. 3. Depending on how much is drawn from previous material, Bubbles could still be a computer programmer and/or video game developer like she was in the 2016 show. 4. The Ameoba boys becoming a blob monster could actually happen since that's what they, unintentionally, did in one of the old DC comics issues. 5. Also coming from the DC comics, the PowerPunk Girls could show up at some point. The CW has shown it's not afraid to tackle alternate universes.

@@KaijaSchmauss Or iZombie from what I hear. I think the whole problem is this is too high concept for a network who does not know how to budget properly. I mean I could be wrong maybe what they're planning is just way more basic than what I'm envisioning in my head. I think the problem is it feels like they're just using the PPG franchise as an excuse to lure people in I don't feel like it'll have much in common with anything we've seen in the past. If anything this almost feels like the off-brand stuff that's come after the original series ended like panty and stocking an anime that apes a lot of the style and humor from that show while also taking it a lot further. it would probably be what Diablo Cody basically wants to do but can't because they're still trapped in the confines and content restrictions of network TV.

The show you just mentioned as you said was on Showtime a premium network similar to HBO and CineMax etc. if this show was going to any of the streaming services or even a premium channel I'd be much more interested. The fact it's coming to the CW the bastard child of both UPN and the WB the place that has no problem ruining things yeah I'm not interested or hopeful.

Once again they're bringing old characters to the "future" and make them into broken versions of what they used to be for the "realism" and "drama", like what they did to Luke Skywalker. Every character now need to grow to be misable versions of themselves because thats what we wanted as kids right? The PP Girls to grow to be failures! Pfft... I'm tired of this. If they want to do stories about fallen heroes, do it with original, new franchises made specifically for that, please.

I will except this under one condition, they have a crossover with Johnny Bravo and or Dexter. @@doctabaldhead PGSM (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon) worked out as a live action version of sailor moon. Toei could capture the same aspects of transitioning the more middle school/high school characters of PPGZ to live action to me. And they could pull off easy drama that isn't bewildering to kids (well because Kamen Rider is catered to kids and it is still pretty dramatic)

As far as I can tell it never did in any form, I don't even think it's on any streaming services except for maybe Amazon possibly. I didn't even know there was a dub till I stumbled across some videos while looking for a sub like 10-15 years ago. I do think they could do something like what they did with sailor Moon except we're talking the US here and they always like to make things dark when they do a "live-action reboot" I don't know why that's always the inclination but it always goes that way.
