You could also mention the other brake adjustment on the pedal arm itself. It changes the pedal height (where it hits the bottom of your foot), and I think it also changes the forward/back distance as well. For me, having the brake hit the ball of my foot is very important. Maximizing brake feel is critical and is why drivers often ware very thin soled shoes.

Do you put the brake pedal the same 50mm away from the rest? I found that the brake is better to be further then the throttle becasue of the shorter travel compared to throttle.

normally as a rule of thumb we put them both the same, 50mm off the heel stops.

How do I know what's the max throttle positition for the pedal? We moved back the seat, but there is still to much bend on the legs so I have to move the pedals next time 😅

Jesper Ek the maximum will be when you hit the front crash bar. We fit drivers up to about 6’2’ into the standard kart. After that we have to look for a front extension kit.

@@PowerRepublic thank you, but I meant that distance from when the throttle pedal is untouched until the stopper stops it. It looks like the movement is somewhere around 2 cm, but is there some special distance to measure for? Sorry if my english is not the best ;)

@@jesperek6402 i don't normally measure that my friend. This is my normal procedure - Set the pedal at the most forwards distance for your comfort in the kart with the throttle shut and attach the throttle cable & cable clamp. - Do up the cable clamp and then wind the stopper screw out of the way so you can get full throttle. -Then you can wind the stopper screw back to the pedal at full throttle. Hope that helps

Yesterday I was gonna move back my sons seat and thought it's not gonna be thay hard, but I learn the hard way 😅 it ended with buying a new seat cause the other one turned out to be one size to big, but last year we thought it was good.. next time I gonna fight with the pedals 💪cheers

Thanks for the positive vibes! you can fit in a senior kart up to about 6'3" -6'4" but it is a little cramped. Failing that, some companies make a front crash bar pedal extension kit that is a great addition for the tall drivers

Yes but you have to buy the special adapters from OTK that face backwards

How easy is retro fitting front brakes to a kart? Also, is it possible to have the right foot braking?

yeah they bolt straight on if you buy the same brand on chassis brake system. they used to have a hand operated front brake system for KF a few years ago on the tony kart and that was a nice piece of engineering. right foot is always for accelerator. if you want to brake with the right foot you would have to put a hand throttle controller.

@@PowerRepublic I think I've seen a hand operated system, thanks for confirming it will work. As for the accelerator, I'd wondered about a hand throttle, but figured left foot accelerator would be easier. I also had an idea about using the right foot for rear brakes and left for fronts using a hand throttle. That way the kart would be likely to understeer and have more accurate braking using my right. (I drive a manual car, and dump my clutch and right foot brake in an emergency by instinct. On a kart that translates to me going backwards very rapidly hence my curiosity about the mods)

@@christianbuczko1481 great ideas. the only hand controls I have seen is for disabled people, but they have both throttle and brake hand controls normally for the guys that are paraplegic. pretty easy to rig up a hand throttle control. have you seen how they make the KZ clutch work??

I got a qustioen, if you buy the rotax max evo exuast does it also come with the brackets and springs, or do you need to buy those sepretly?

Hi Kapser, you need to order the bracket, socket, springs, rubbers seperaely with the EVO exhaust. Unless you buy it in the engine package, then it all comes included.
