Hi Derek, I've always been a fan of your well done videos. I've recently upgraded to the KZ from DD2, and not to anyone's surprise, I find it impossible to find anything about working on the TM KZ engine (well, except yours that is). There are no information on the basic service and data specs for the TM KZ (let alone the service manual), none anywhere. Spending much time searching, the most I've ever found is a barely readable copy of the parts diagram. Somehow in the karting industry (unlike cars and motorcycles), people don't seem to share very much at all, and you are definitely very generous to share your experience with good details. Bravo to you, and your good work. You're number ONE, mate!👍

I’ll be servicing my TM K9B for the first time due to your fantastic videos. Thank you so much! Now if you can just do a video on how to properly jet my dellorto carb for race day : )

Thank you for the video! I’m getting ready to tear down my TM K9B for service. I know this engine in the video is the KZ10. How does this video’s steps compare to the ones I would take with my K9B?
@PowerRepublic4 жыл бұрын
Russ Saputo I would assume they are almost identical. Most engine series follow each new edition pretty closely. Give it a go and if you get stuck give me a call and I will point you in the right direction

Hey buddy I have a TM Racing K9B and i don’t know what kind of fuel I can use, I read on the maintenance manual that I need to use 95 or higher unleaded racing fuel! My question is, I need to use that fuel with or without methanol? And what type of oil you use for mix and the oil of the gearbox? Thanks a lot! ☺️
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
hey Giorgio, I would use straight pump fuel and just richen the main jet up a bit. no need for methanol either. oil I would use Shell M castor oil at 5% and for the gearbox ATF use 250-300ml

Hey I have a Gilera 125cc engine (go kart engine with a 6 speed gearbox, not a scooter engine) and i really struggle to find anything about it on the internet and because I am new I a not confident enough to open it and rebuild it so I was wondering if you had any experience with that kind of engine and if you have any tips for me, thanks:)
@PowerRepublic6 жыл бұрын
Miroslav Golemanski no I haven’t pulled that one down. Does it have a power valve in the exhaust port like Honda and Kawasaki 125cc engines? But if you follow along with a manual and this video I think you’ll be just fine.

Derek, i have driven an lo206 and although its fun it quickly got boring and felt like a rental kart. I need something quicker. Just a bit quicker. Im not racing competitively (yet) just taking it out to the track and do some laps for fun. What engine is a good step from an lo206? I was considering a ka100 or x30. I dont really know. If it helps i live in florida. Also do you ship T-shirts here? Thank you so much for your efforts teaching everyone. This channel should be blowing up soon. 🍻
@PowerRepublic5 жыл бұрын
Im not sure what a 206 is but I will assume it is a go kart chassis? anyway if you need an engine I would choose the X30 because it is water cooled but mostly because it has more power!!!!! 125cc is always going to be more fun than 100c KA engine IMO. sure do send tee shirts, grab one on line with pay pal and I'll ship it on over
@Shinobi1175 жыл бұрын
@@PowerRepublic awesome just what i was hoping to hear. The x30 is nice. I understand maintenance is pricey but im very mechanically inclined so rebuilding a top/bottom end isn't extraordinarily difficult am i right? I'm new to this sport and i assumed the briggs and stratton local option (lo206) was also used down there. Its a 4 stroke entry level engine found on some complete karts and are popularly used here as a spec engine. Very very low maintenance and reliable but Too boring for me though. God bless and thank you ever so much for your videos. I will keep you posted on my progression. I may try to pick up a tony kart or a crg.

Hey Frosty, yeah none of the repairs are impossible to do at home, you just need time to make everything happen. you can also take the crank shaft and the cylinder to an engine rebuilding shop/jetski/motorbike shop and get them to do that part for you and then you can screw it all together at home. those are the two main sticking points for people.
@Shinobi1175 жыл бұрын
@@PowerRepublic that nailed it. Thank you so much. I had this impression that i would have to send the crankshaft assembly back to the manufacturer to get it inspected and repaired. I have plenty of guys here that work on engines fir bikes and jet skis. Thanks derek you really are the best here bro. 🍻
@benny30274 жыл бұрын
is this the same for all kz engines on all types of chassis'?
@PowerRepublic4 жыл бұрын
very similar mate. can't say it is the exactly same, but should give you an understanding to find your way through your particular kart. What kart do you have?
